Still getting use to the new forum rules (Of which I support fully,... So hopefully I didn't just screw up ) And this is my first Thread sense the new rules were put in place.

Well guys, After doing the Bonsai build on Fast Eddies Model A before he passed away,.. I have to admit I was a little burnt out.... Maybe it was the mixture of the frantic thrash, excitement of finishing the car, And the overwhelming feeling of knowing the only enjoyment Ed got out of it was a very short ride... And the empty drivers seat of a car that will spend a long time under a car cover in a dark garage....... I don't know.

Frankly, I have been staying out of the garage lately and working on my other passion which is restoring old Military Firearms.... But it's not long before one thing or another makes me have to go over to the barn,... And a sneaky pair of headlights keep staring at me,.. And this little bugger keeps whispering to me,... And I can hear old Ed saying to me a few years ago.. "If that were mine, I'd be on it like ugly on an Ape !":D.

A few other friends have echoed the same sentiments lately, So A good old High School buddy came over today and we rolled it out into a crisp and cloudy November afternoon,... Moved some junk around and took it on "the stretcher" over to the shop,...... Well guy's, I think I am starting to get over the burned out feeling,.. and a spark of passion (and direction) has been re ignited....

Now if I just can stay focused,.. and work on only one at a time, This just might be a fun ride.... And a big thanks to my pals that kept kicking me in the butt to get back in the saddle again.

    I'll keep ya posted.

Looks like as if you could just put some gas in it and drive away. That car is very cool.

Sorry for the loss of your friend, glad he did get to ride in his finished car. Is the '32 the one you were doing the research on a while back, the West Coast car that was driven cross country? Look foeward to the build. Bob

  13. Is it done yet ????????????????

  14. I completely understand where your coming from with the mixed emotions of working like a dog trying to help Eddie achieve a goal and then the mental anguish of losing that friend.

I'm looking forward to seeing updates on the roadster. HRP

No Bob,.. This one is a different one ,... The other one actually belongs to a friend. Thanks for the kind words guys,.... I just want to beat this puppy like a red headed step child....

59AB, 39 Trans, 40 rear,... Rusty , Crusty, needs some "Tweeking" on the frame, It's just going to be a low impact "beater with a heater"... Believe it or not, the distraction of buying up old broken, rusted & busted guns and fixing them up in the evenings, and working on "One Car" at a time, seems to be the perfect blend for me to be more productive than I have been in years.....

Well,... We will see if this combination works... Sometimes a distraction of another venue can be a little beneficial.

Here is a gun/Hot Rod related question for you. Somewere I read about a guy using rifle barrels for cycle fender brackets, they had a nice taper. Do you have any idea what may be out there cheap, and not a loss to the gun collecting world? Bob

Bob, I just threw out a couple plugged M1 Garand Barrels that came off of Drill Rifles,... I will certainly keep my eyes peeled for something suitable.....

  23. Glad to see you on it!

My condolences on the loss of your friend...

That car looks like it is begging for your time and attention!

    Keep us posted.

    :)

  24. Gives us all a reason to do good things every day! Love that Roadster. Have fun building it.

Bob. wiring scares you but you want to take guns apart for brackets:eek:

Firearms are no problem, and I still fit in my shooting jacket, every kid should be in an NRA shooting program. Bob ;)

Nice, can't wait to see how it goes. What are your plans for it?

A bit OT, but since you mentioned old military rifles - I recently picked up a Tula dual date MO M-N 91/30, Gew 71/84, Gew 98, and 1898 Krag, for $450 total. All in good shape, numbers matching, actions work very well.
