well i got about 2000 miles out of my 60 over 302 before i started dumping coolant. turns out that head gaskets were letting combustion gas into the water but not allowing water into the oil. I pulled the heads and had them tested and they were good. While i had it apart i decided to go with a high flow water pump and a big *** radiator with chevy side outputs. Well this changed a bunch of stuff and i had to make a new timing mark, move the alternator to the drivers side and change the pulley set up. I went from a 19 inch wide radiator to a 33 inch wide one with a 16 inch electric fan. Just got it running again, kinda. the timing is off a bit but shes driving. If it dies again this engine will become a boat anchor.

Usually the 289-302's never should go over .040" overbore, you may be OK if you can keep it cool but with that thin a cylinder wall you are walking on the wild side.
