A buddy had a 31A sedan that had a tank in it making the rear not useible, that tank cracked cuz of some ones poor mounting. I draw him a design I thought was neat,he had it made,it was the shape of a rear seat and I upholstered it for him to match his front 12 years back. padding was only 3in. base n 1.5in. back but at lest those less then around 150lbs can ride in the back vs no one. It did make it a lot more fun he said to have as many as 4 riding . Sorry no pic anymore
We used a one from tanks, fabbed a mount that leaned back. Plan to make a thin backrest that will wrap over the top to look like a regular thickness seat and probably a narrow package shelf to take up the rest of the space. Will only be good for kids and tiny people tho.
The moonshiner styled tank is always good. Build a seat shaped tank, and upholster it. I've been wreaking with a Ideer in my head about using a 1948-54 Chevy pick up tank. Behind the seat. That should work, although I didn't measure one up. So I'm not sure it fits.
Ozzies have used small ones from local GM Gemini (Chevette) sized cars that originally mount behind the rear seat in the cross brace area. Thin and long and can be mounted low to allow the use of a back seat.
