  1. in defense of the sbc ,about the only thing more traditional than the SBC are the flatheads and inliners, everything else in a V8 including the big blk's+W headed chevy's was used far less than the sbc , ,open a 59 -64 magazine and the "other" makes were in a minority-fact -Olds (dual duty drag cars),Chrys hemi's (drag + street cars )+ Buick's (some drag, but mostly street cars) came a close second, Caddy's and Poncho's next (or the other way around givin a certan year range Caddy's + Olds were first B4 the SBC because they were out first), then Studes,Packard's, strt 8 Poncho ,Buick, Olds etc in dead last for popularity Everything else died out for a reason, mainly durability and lack of reasonably priced parts or new cores/parts. ,swapability aside, the SBC was a cheap high winding fast light motor that beat all comers regularly in all manors of racing,This is from a bit of research I did awhile back- mostly from a poll I did from about 300 -500 magazines from the 53-67 years including some very obscure ones (winters get LOOOONG here in the Nort country) :D ' do I love the "odd" make engines? HELL YA!, do I build em? NOPE., Have I ? YEP -but no more :D but again, its a preference thing, we don't build our cars to suit anyone but OURSELVES, right?

Sorry I missed all you guys. I didn't make it to the M&G cause I have to leave @ 2 on Sat for a wedding over in Plymouth. Good thing I left cause it started raining just after that!
Was there Thursday, Friday and Sunday however. Had my lincoln parked in the north west dirt lot Friday and Sat all day.
I had a small adventure on Thursday. Been driving the Lincoln as my daily since May. Bring it on the trailer and she gets pissed at me. Blew a brake hose 5 minutes after I got there. Just soo happens I had my GPS. Good thing it has phone numbers for the parts stores in it. Found someone who had 5 hoses in stock and less than an hour had the parts I needed damn near installed. Technology is KICK ***!! Would have taken me three hours(not to mention the parts store would have been closed by then) to find what I needed without a cell phone and my GPS.

    Dakota,
Loved the modified! Glad to see you brought it down. I bet the leather helmet and goggles made the trip more fun. I met you at Blaine's a couple of years ago. (He bought my parents house)

Ahhh, Yes! Thanks. IT was a fun Ride, Drove it all the way down there, and yes the cap and goggles made the ride much more bearable.

Johns car turned out Awesome! Had to congradulate him on the Nomination at the Mystery Run. Eyball and I made it to the Buick swap, but never made it to the run.

Tried to hang with blaine a little this weekend, but he was really busy.

Had a great weekend except for the rain.

I can't address the camping deal...never did it at BTTF's...

But there aren't any awards...the only giveaway list is on the posters and that is just for a few major things like engines, etc. Nobody had any info on a list since there isn't any...but the MSRA gives away TONS of stuff to their participants....

The auction IS for two days....Friday is preview day...Saturday is sale day...always call the auction house for details ahead of time.

And I think there is a vendor guide furnished with your registration packet, I believe.

The rain was done by 8:00 AM on Sunday...you should of had a little faith!

It sounds like this was your first time at the show....the sheer size is sometimes overwhelming the first time...keep going and you'll get the hang of it...

i had a good time at the meet n greet, hell even friday sitting around the same spot with fellow hambers was good times. i had the most fun at this show than i have ever in the past. next year we gotta call a base for the entire weekend, and even us local guys need to get out and put some miles on, hit the road, grab a burger a few more times this summer yet.

    Aaron,
I know John is even suprised at how well it came out! It's great to have been there from day one(I even helped him haul it home) to see it isn't a "goldchainer" store bought car. He put A LOT of effort into it. Glad you had a good time. I know Blaine ran his *** off all weekend, as do all the board members. The Buick swap has become almost as good as the Roadster swap in the fall.

  18. I can mention the camping ,I was down there - it became clear that several preregs were not coming, so the spots were sold off, as to the the camping area condition and facility's?-keep in mind this is a FAIRGROUNDS, not a KOA ,which was over 15 mi away and BOOKED. B-rooms and showers were exceptionally clean and neat for such a lrg. crowd using them, I applaud the keepers

Auctions ? what auctions- who cares  :D hardly anything was sold and what was, was over priced.always ignore them anyway.but my wanna be bud wanted to go see if he could BUY in to the hobby

The Participant packet had a guide and map, but no vendor locator , SOME vendors who had ads, put their location in their ads,but not many, they have to work on that.
Rain at BTT50's is so rare that its a unique experiance and it WAS done by 8am + we WERE supposed to get it ALL weekend -so we were blessed :D and it did take edge of the heat off -double blessed ;) - tip toeing through puddles is fun when its warm :D,ever been to Iola WI. b4 the hardtop? now thats MUD- tractors been know to dissappear:eek: I went there through out the early to mid 80's and I SAW it.
