    Hey guys,
I'm pretty proud of myself! My '53 Buick Straight 8 was making weird lifter noises I couldn't adjust out, so I cleaned my lifters hillbilly style! The plungers were all frozen, so I boiled the lifters in a soup can of water on my propane camp stove to free the sludge, hit them with carb cleaner after dissasembly, then reassembled them! They're all free now...just have to dump some oil down em, button the motor and rocker shaft back up and I should be good to go til the next problem rears its ugly head! I don't know if anybody's tried this, but it was a proud moment for me since the lifters cost 23 bucks a piece!!!

Keep the Rolaids ready though...terrible heartburn afterward!

...and don't be like the retard around here that decided to clean some parts on his stove by BOILING THEM IN GAS. He blew his trailer up like a can with a cherry bomb!

Make sure they each go back on their oiginal lobe and plenty of break-in grease. CYA and way to go.

I did em one at a time and used good old lubriplate before I reinstalled them...so far, so good! It's running much better (and quieter!).
