Bad accident in Tempe - '59 El Camino

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Kustom Komet, Jul 27, 2010.

  1. of course he got a ticket he hit a damn cop! I would ask for the traffic camera footage (if any) and Arizona law states that any driver must make a resonable attempt to avoid a wreck, sounds like the cop wasnt lookin at oncoming traffic musta been on his state supplied laptop in his car,but if you entered on green and the rear wheels were in the intersection before it turned red your not at fault according to AZ law.......just a thought

  2. :D Good to hear!

I'm glad to hear that he will be alright, that's the most important thing. We all love our old cars, but they are just machines, they can be repaired or replaced, but people can't. If ya'll can eventually get the Elky back on the road, that's gravy.

    Good news.

"The collision took place on Monday at the intersection of Southern and Price. DPS investigators tell 3TV the driver of their car was making a turn onto Price Road when the driver of the El Camino allegedly ran a red light"

    glad the guy is ok.
    too bad about his car.
It will probably take a 4 door sedan cowl-cut high on the roof posts, and frame to fix.

Interesting that so many people rush to judgement.
as stated above he "allegedly " ran the light.....

Glad to hear Sparky is OK, If you could let him know that Fish sends his best.
I remember when I first met Sparky hanging out at Jakes Chop Shop, very cool guy.

I hope we can rally together to give this good guy a hand.

BS Look at the "A" pilar in that Elcamino. That driver took a steering wheel too. As a person who is very very close to a recent crash survivor, I love my old cars but the new ones are a whole lot safer than the old ones. PM me for pictures if you really want a taste of reality.
Do hope the driver pulls through this one.

Thought I would open this one up again as yesterday I talked to Sparky a bit. He is recovering well, although it was some pretty serious damage to his person. I guess he broke his pelvis, one leg, and some bones in one of his arms. He wanted to say THANK YOU to all on the H.A.M.B. who were concerned with his condition.
As for the legal speculation, we talked a bit about that, but I'm not going to say anything about it until the lawyers have done their deal, or until Sparky say's something for himself.
Davey Deuce, if you could P.M. me with your contact info, I will p*** it along to Sparky. He does plan to rebuild what's left of his truck, and I'm sure he is going to need a frame. Says he already has a body lined up to work from.
I don't know this guy very well, but we have hug out together on a couple of occasions, and I do
know him to be a good guy. His El Camino was a nice clean trucklet, and I'm glad to see him enthusiastic to get it back together again. I'm not sure how he is set for parts or finance at this point, but if need be I might open this thread again if he needs to find something.
    Thanks again gang, Chip Quinn
