You'd better believe that if there were any way, I'd make sure thay had the right one marked before they put me under.
But you're right, time for the thread to die a natural death. About every angle has been discussed.

Now that I think about it, if you let them prep the wrong leg before surgery and didn't say anything about it, would you share in the responsibility?
Yea, I know. Nothing to do with wheels.

    no, stupid analogy...

  4. I can't believe the few that say this is Summit's fault. The OP says he told them the car, not the bolt circle. Come on we're dealing with 40+ year old application's here, not common everyday late model stuff. So there was the first place for a mistake to happen. It is possible that the guy looked it up wrong or had bad information. It is possible he keyed it in wrong. It is possible that the manufacture boxed them wrong. It is possible that the warehouse pulled the wrong part. All of these things can and do happen everyday, with more companies than just Summit.
Because of that wheel companies put on the Box, The invoice and right on the freakin wheels themselves to check fit them first. My god which part of YOU MOUNT IT, YOU OWN IT can't you people understand! Why is this so difficult?
And as I said previously having been in both the car and motorcycle wheel business you wouldn't believe the crap people tried to pull when they screwed up a wheel.

You alway check the wheel first,,and good wheel place would have made sure the wheel fit first,,as should you,,hard way to learn though

I bought some boyds wheels thru Les schwabs when I took the car down even they put the wheel on the car before mounting the tire guess what? they made a boo boo
and measured it wrong sent them back no problem. They told me if they had mounted the tire THEY would own them no matter what even being a vendor...Moral?
This is not some obscure rule,Measure first!!!

Lessons in life. Getting the wrong wheel, then mounting a tire on it without checking it, is part of growin' up. Whether that's HAMB subject matter or not, (worth in depth discussion), depends on whether I'm growed up or not......................

  14. I find Summit to be cheaper then Jegs all of the time. Never had a problem. Returns always worked for me.But I always test fit stuff too. TEST FIT TEST FIT TEST FIT.

If I had a dollar for every time a customer purchased the wrong part, tried using it, and wanted to return it...well, lets say I wouldn't have to work at a parts store! Many times now, people have said in so many terms, test fit, make sure you got the right part, etc. 100% correct. It sucks, it's an expensive way to learn a lesson, but you can bet the next part you buy you will be making sure it's the right thing! The only unfortunate thing for my store (at least in my honest opinion) is we offer a no hassle return policy with very few exceptions. We also get a TON of people that will return the part after they found out it won't fit, and it's all dirty and basically unable to be re-sold as new, but fail to tell us. That is MORE annoying because we now will get 2 customers coming back from the same part. One wanted his money, the other is pissed because he has grease smudges on his rotor. Bottom line....ALWAYS double check your parts and make sure you are within tolerance for your application.

You mount em' you own them.

Its been the rule of thumb almost everywhere for as long as I can remember. This is not summits fault.

If you like the wheels, buy or make some adapters to mount the 4 3/4 wheel onto the 5" bolt circle. At least then you can use the wheels.
