I see your really passonate about this so I'll let it go. I've no intentions of getting into an online argument. I think we've all said what we wanted to say. Its his car he can do whatever the hell he wants, just like I'll do whatever the hell I want with mine. I didn't even say anything bad about the car, Hell for the most part I like it. I just took offence that your using some one's age against them in a discussion. Especially since I fit into that category. Like we don't know shit from shinola, and maybe I don't but I'm always trying to learn more, I've always found it more rewarding to teach some one than shit on them for not knowing. Later.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to tear anyone down and was only having a little fun with T-Man (hence the smiley). I was stating what I know about the builder and the car from a long friendship we have had. You would do the same if someone said something about your friend's car and you differently knew why he he done a particular thing- which in this case is why it's not a finshised painted car (yet). I never knocked anyone's opinion or age- just said it will be had to cover up the paint his dad sprayed on the car over 30 years ago when he was just a kid. I wish my dad had done that for me.

So yes, I fell off my soapbox long ago.

That seems like a smart thing to do...
If you drive a car around for a while before you spend a lot of money on Paint, Plating and Upholstery, its a lot easyer to take the new car bugs out of it.
And the end result will probably be a better car because those things are more likely to get done.

Wow. That car is rad. I've never seen it before (I don't watch television.)

It's hard to explain, and I don't know if I'll do a good job of it, but some cars just are what they are and it doesn't matter what the level of finish is. Paint and plate all you want and I'll still see the same car.

this car is pretty damn special,
just read the passion in these responses.

I myself can enjoy a car in all it's phases.
anything from a pile of cool parts to
    a polished finished state.

I'm sure that car was cool when it was nothing more than a body sitting on the ground.

it is cool now, and I'm sure it will be cool when it's finished.

what I don't get is the mad dash from start to finish.

    what the hells the hury?
why not enjoy it as it is along the way?

that car is so right it will always be awsome.
    I love it.

    60's has it,
when is a car ever finished? I think that car is freaking cool as is, and I wouldn't mind seeing it in a bitchin color either. The point is, he's got a great car, great motor, and stance. I even like the plywood floorboards, probably wouldn't work here in the land of ice and snow and pot holes but hey it's cool to me.

As Verne from the Chopper's said, "they are called floorBOARDS because they were originally made from boards". I like the wood floors Henry put in my Model A as well. ;)

That car rules.... Those Chopper guys pay attention to details that most miss.

I'm sure there will be thought and care with whatever that guy does with it.
It allready has more thought than most "finished" cars that miss the boat.
That car has class, finished or not.

I think its neat that it was on TV... Good for those guys. I don't think its ruined the "scene" or anything..... I think its cool that it was documented.

The only difference is now all the Goodguy types call my roadster a Rat Rod, and they all assume it has an Olds engine. It's kinda funny actually.

    Those Chopper dudes got class.

Yeah, drives me bad to hear all that "rat rod" noise too, mostly the nerds and the Scribenerds (carless dorks that write the rag articles) I dunno if I'd rather know there were rods at home being built or see the rusty bodies driven in with semi-finished chassis. Some of the guys are into the rust-n-shit look, though. There was a rumor that ALL the 'rat-rod' guys are aquainted, and they have some secret date that every car will be painted, upholstered, and suaved...it was all planned!!! The imaginations of squares...

I don't recall calling your car a "rat rod" when I put it in the Greedyguys Gazette.

i think it's cool that it's so unfinished. that way, when (if ever) they sell it. It keeps the costs down.

he won't be including 10,000 dollars just for the paint job when he has to sell it.

spreads the fun around, and the more work you put into the finish, the more you worry about driving it. that's just my dumb and rare opinion.

Jim dude... relax... I wasn't talking about you... I was talking about Average Joe street rod guy... After they saw that "rat rod" show. They come up to me and ask if it is an olds motor in my rat rod...
I always tell them... "I don't really know what kind of motor it is... I bought the car off of ebay."
    Hahaha

It doesn't even matter, I think the show was a good thing...

I think the show came on last fall? The gazette thing was a couple years ago? It was cool though, Thanks. The same goodguy types always tell me they saw it there. Then they ask where Delafew is.....

I don't know if that was a typo, or you ment to say Delafew... but it was funny....

Choppers still have class.... Average Joe Rat rodder has alot to learn from them.

I could only do the best at reading what ever the owner wrote on the reg card. I know I garbled plenty of names of owners and cities that I couldn't read correctly. My bad!

    I'll second that.
Those guys build great cars, work together, don't really care what folks think about them and they have ALLOT of fun.

I'd say that's a good way to run a car club.
