I agree. The original comment said AFTER he did the balancing he would check the rim. At that point it wouldn't matter, right? I would check the rim first as well. I I was just saying it would be a moot point to check the rim at that stage.
Look up who sells tires for construction trucks. The 15/22.5's Super Single fronts we used all had to be ground to make them round.
We run old steel wheels that are often out of round. We run new Coker bias plies that again, are often out of round. Sure, shaviing will cure the problem. But before I did that I would have them road force balanced. They take into account the wheel and tire, and mount the tire on the rim where, if possible, the two should cancel each other out. Rich
