Technical Balance Beads Revisited... Feedback?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Crazy Steve, Jan 3, 2023.

  1. I totally agree Sir!

Research is definitely our friend! As someone whose other passion is nutritional health, & therapy, I read hundreds of studies, reports & statistics monthly

Also I have never used them in a tube, so I cannot comment on their life or effectiveness in them.

I can tell you that I believe they only start working at about 22 MPH, that is the speed they are thrown out in place (at least in the Centramatics). That is the speed I stop hearing them!:p

    God Bless
    Bill

The valve stem on a semi and a automobile are the same diameter. My dad used them in his steering and trailer tires. Not sure what they were made of, but probably 3/8th diameter beads. On his drivers he did like Bill, that ring that bolted between the duals, had lead or something in it. Seemed like a hula hoop thing. Think I still have a set, anyways, when we (I ) changed tires, I scooped them out and put them in the new tires. Over the 20 or so years I changed a lot of tires, always used the same beads.
We never had a cupped steering tire, dad never mentioned an issue like vibration, etc, trailer tires you wouldn’t notice much of anything except wear (we never did). He pulled bottom dumps and also worked his Transfer in the winter when bottoms were not much use around here.

Edit: I should add that he ran radials (new) for steering tires, and used takeoffs to get capped for drivers and the trailers. He never would run a “rag tire”.
