My handle's balingwire. I told a little about myself in my profile biography, so I won't rehash that. One obvious missing piece in my vehicles is a rod. I've always wanted a Deuce coupe, still do, but I want an A roadster or roadster pickup more. I like the 40's style roadsters like the ones in Tom Fritz art, but I'm a family man and money is tight. I'm in the planning stages now on the roadster and want to get started right. Bought the book, How to Build a Traditional Ford Hot Rod, now not so sure I want it that traditional. In a perfect world, I would want a purely traditional rod, but money's tight, I need to use what I've got, and I drive the wheels off of vehicles, so I need reliability and safety also. Right now, I'm thinking of some things that may be looked down upon on this site, such as 289 Ford, disc brakes, Vega steering, 8" Ford rear, radial tires, all for safety, reliability, and cost. That said, I want a hiboy, steel body, I-beam axle w/2" or 3" drop, Deuce grille shell, simplicity. You now know what I want. If I'm off, convince me, and I'll get it lined out. Having a lot of trouble deciding on the frame/ch***is - modified original vs. original repro vs. new tube. I'm not a welder, so I'll have to hire this part out. I've read different things about flex vs. no flex in the frame. Looking to the H.A.M.B. for good advice. Maybe I can help someone along the way.
