Hey guys and girls. Well the Ballarat swap meet is done and dusted for another year. This was the first year they've held the swap at it's new home (across the road from the old home at the Ballarat airport) and it seemed to work out well. I found the new layout much easier to navigate being set out in a grid form. The weather was all over the place for the whole weekend with patches of freezing cold, patches of scorching sun, a fairly strong wind blowing constantly, and as much dust as you could swallow, but at lest the rain held off. I think we did fairly well selling what we had on offer however some people I spoke to said they struggled. Our luxurious accommodations for the weekend and my swap meet buddy, Brendan "the mud cake man", who kept us well fed as usual. and looking down "D" street from our site.
My haul that I brought home this year (minus a couple of model cars that I forgot to take a picture of) and some bitchin' early Aussie hot rod mags for my collection. If anyone else has some pictures to add, feel free to post 'em up.
Yeah, spoggie I don't imagine they would have made many of them. It'd be cool to check it out in person.
Thank,s great coverage, forgot it was on, but you have pics of all the good bits. saved my legs Brendan
New layout was good except when you got to the indoor marquee as that did stuff you up trying to follow the alphabet roads. Mind you it was good they kept the lay out and site plan from the old swap site as best they could. Pity it was such a dusty sheep paddock. The old site is fast becoming an industrial site now.
The only issue I had with the new layout was having both gates down one end and my site near the other, most people were knackered by the time they got to us and not interested in buying much. I agree it was good of them to keep the site plan similar as we have had the same site for 4 or 5 years and have made pretty good friends with some of our regular neighbours. My dad got lost on the way in where they have put in the big roundabout for the industrial area (he hasn't been to the swap for a few years).
was a good weekend, I don't know why I bothered washing the Olds before going, was dusty and dirty 30 seconds after we arrived.
Thanks for the pics and taking the time to post them here. You got pics of all the interesting stuff that was there. I think the new site was even dustier than the old site. It was even dusty in the big marquee.
