Has anyone here done the conversion? I have a 53 customline that handles ok but not great. Kingpins are new. I have Aerostar springs etc and everything is lubed as it should be. I have a Jamco swaybar and the steering is adjusted with no play.
Over the years I have owned four '53 fords and three '54 Fords and both original suspension's used the same coils and shocks I never really noticed any real difference except the radials were much better than the bias plys at higher speeds as there was a lot less wandering. But if you have the bucks https://www.performanceonline.com/1949-53-Ford-Custom-Stage-2-Tubular-Control-Arm-Suspension-Kit/ Did you add a rear sway bar ?
I didn’t put a rear sway bar. I may try that first before I shell out. I also think a real alignment would serve me well but there aren’t many places equipped here for that.
Around Phoenix there are a fair amount of Hispanic shops that have some of the older Bear Alignment machines that would be more suited for older cars and trucks rather than the computerized later equipment you might want to look for older shops in your area.
