Yea so some of you guys have har***ed me pretty good about my T coupe and not making it to LSR 2011, but to be honest I got pretty burnt out on it last spring trying to make it. Some of you don't know and some do, but the painters painted my frame the wrong color (matched the suspension) so they had to redo it, a couple times before I was happy. It really killed my mode and I lost steam and rode with Mike from Tulsa in his 53 GMC pickup down to Austin. We had a blast, and I didn't miss the coupe at all!

So in honor of missing LSR 2011, I'm starting another balls out mission to complete the T coupe this year. I figured if I don't set a goal and get after it, I might not finish the coupe at all? And it's so freaking close too, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. The colors are picked, the frame and suspension are painted and ready to ***emble, but right now I have to finish the rust repair on the body before I can move forward and get it to the body shop, then onto ***embly.

We have 74 days, that means 14 for rust repair, 30 for paint and ***embling the ch***is, and 30 left to finish and a shake down run! Hence the ***le.... Balls out to LSR!!!:D

Gonna start with some rust repair in the belt lines. These T coupes are notorious for bad rust in the beltline, it was just a terrible design that wasn't meant to last 85 years!

First find a good rust free donor!! :D

I found this rear section by chance on here one night when I was about to go to bed. It was in Colorado. I pm'd the owner and called him the next day(friday), told him I'd take it if there was any way we could get it to Salina, to my surprise his buddy was headed to Salina on Sunday. I got with my buddy Povertyflats and he was able to meet the guy and store it for several months till I had time to pick it up.

I paid pretty good for the rear section, but you can see why!!! Before I got this piece, I just could not figure out what the best way to repair my belt line would be. I was baffled!!

So after getting the rear home I started to tackled this part, if I'm gonna make it to LSR 2012, I better get on it!

    Started with this...

you can see the inside how bad it was!! Some of it was nearly 3/4" thick, and the belt line was pushed out nearly a 1/2" from the body!!

Right on Chadillac! You let me know if you need a custom shift knob made for it at cost.
I've got a vested interest in seeing our products in cars as cool as yours. Plus it lets me vicariously live through someone else's T until mine is done. If you get the Mercury Charlie's on the Sunday after LSRU, you'll see my frame hanging from his rafters.
Gimme a heads up if you wanna take me up on it. We'll have our booth at the show.
We're all pulling for you to drive your T! Now quit reading the HAMB. Yer car is calling!

Ah man thanks so much, I might take you up on that for another project if that's cool. I purchased a custom Blown Gl*** knob that matches the colors I'm going with.

Thanks everyone! I'm smackin' it around the shop right now. No progress today as I sold my other T coupe body and had to deliver it today.

More updates!! Driver side getting done!!

Bout to s***ch it up and get the new belt line in!!

Had to pull the bracing that was attached to the quarter panel, it was all roached. So I cleaned it up and shot some rustoleum to it, then I tacked it back in the car where it originally was riveted. Then I made the new upper patch for the quarter, using my shrinker stretcher and getting it curved around and up. Had to relieve it a little bit to get it to match good.

Most might not know that this is actually a seam where the quarter window and the quarter panel bolt together. It's a very bad spot for rust, and finding a donor in the condition I found is very unusual!!
