Hi all,a newbie here, just wondering if anyone is running twin 94's on a stock banger and if so ,hows it go and what jets etc? currently running twin s.u.'s but have a twin stromb. manifold and a collection of 94's ,It's hard to find 97's cheap here in Aussie and 81's are impossable .later plans are for a head ,cam, headers thanks, Brett
Bret, do a search, there is a couple good threads here and some very smart dudes with bangers. I just finnished mine with 2 97's with stock jets, I tried the smaller jets from 81's but it would not run. I think the stock jets in the 97's are 45's and the 81's are 35's. Anyhow, bone stock otherwise and it runs good. It may still need a little tweaking, just waiting for the weather to get better!
the 94s will be too large for your banger. 2 81s will be the ticket. Spend the money on getting the 81s and you will be much happier and wealthier in the long run.You know where to get the 81s. Put your 250.00 max bid in and wait. Hate to say it but it's true. If the funds are low, start dealin'....................
I like many have found 2 94's can run rich on a mild 255 inch V8, on a stock banger you will choke it to death. Probably have to spend months and $$$$ playing with jets and powervalves. How about making up a couple of plates to go on your dual intake and mounting a pair of VW beetle carbs? Dirt Cheap and I bet it will run a lot better than dual 94's. You can get some neat air cleaners to go on these Solex carbs. Rich
Hi again, so it seems the 94's are out, then again i already have the manifold and carbs so i could just bolt it up and see!! h.r.dickie, I have made plates to run single barrel strombs,[early holden] ,just havent sorted the linkages, but like the idea of the early style with 97,s etc. [the s.u.'s work fine so they will have to stay for a while ,I cant justify the cost of 81's x2 xaussie dollar exchange x postage thanks Brett]
Brett, I would try the 94's. What do you have to loose? Try leaning them out by removing the powervalves and blocking the ports. This should lean them out enough to get an idea on how she will act.
