I' m upgrading a 1930 Ford Banger, Police head, adjustable lifters, .030 over. the rest is pretty stock. I have a dual carb manifold and a couple of new 97's I want to install..any advice on jetting appreciated.

  2. haven't a clue. I have seen them run 81's before but can't say that I remember twin 97's. What are you doing for exhaust? Got pics, you know how we like our pics on here!

That's a lot of carb especially on an almost stock banger. A 97 is 162 cfm, that gives you 324 cfm . I ran a single 94 on a balanced banger, Winfield head, Mallory distributor, B grind cam Ansen manifold and a header and it tended to run rich. I have a pair of 81's that I'm going to use on an 8BA with solid linkage, I thought about putting them on a banger and decided a single 94 or 97 was plenty of card for a mild banger.

I have a Miller OHV on my banger. Running 2 x stromberg 97s, standard jetting. For your set-up, I would think that you will need to install smaller than standard jets.

I have the same set up on my banger, Mine helped by putting on a fuel regulator and setting it 2 3/4 pounds pressure , got that info from Clive owner of Stromberg

Carburetors are sized to supply air and fuel for a particular amount of horse power, not cubic inches of an engine. If the carbs are overly large then 'jetting down' won't get you there because the air will be 'lazy' going thru the venturi and that results in a poor signal to the internal fuel circuits.
A pair of 1bbl Stromberg or Zeniths would be tits, would have the look and sized much closer from the gitgo.

  8. Adjustable jets would work better than trying and buying a bunch of jets.

I have dual 81s on my Miller ohv stock jetting. It needs more jet though.

Snagged a couple of '81's. The concensus is they will work better than 97's
i'll save the 97's for the Roof OHV conversion

Run twin 97’s on stock model b banger . Runs great on stock jets and PV’s nice and sharp on the throttle repsonce too.
