Well, finally got around to getting together with my brother to see what we did to the dragster last June at the Antique Nationals. Turns out we sheared off the flywheel bolts again! Oh well stiil still have a few months to get it back together.
Got the right bolts, got the right torque ft lbs, and even used loc***e! We are definately making HP. I understand that back in the day the spinning of the tires was how to launch these things. Now, the tracks have too much traction and the bolts look like the weak link!
All 4 cyl. engines have flywheel problems. Our bangers probably have more than most because of the large size of the engine. I add 2 bolts to the stock setup on all my engines. True, if the tires spin there is little shock on the wheel & crank, so they live longer. BTW, Mikes cousin, Eddie Mancillas ran 112 at this years Nats with his turbo flathead banger in the T roadster.
