is there a reason that they didn't do a multi lift type lifter setup

  2. That seems high! A shop here in Spokane did my V8 flatty for 150.00 seats included....seats are (usually) pretty cheap, and the labor is not to harsh. Ask em what there hourly rate is, and how much the seats cost...see were there stabbin' ya!

Guess they thought this was better. More room for valve springs and a longer valve stem allows more lift.

Thanks Chris! Man, if I could get it done for $150.00, I'd be a happy crapper.

What it boiled down to was $35.00 per seat for the machining (which did sound way too high to me) and $7.00-$10.00 per seat.

I haven't, but many of those that have run one have reported very negatively:

    Core shift
    Poor machining
    Water leaks
Poor drivability due to extreme sensitivity to spark advance

Mr. Yapp has taken them off the market.

  10. I use Castrol HD 30 in my engines. It is becoming harder to find "monoweight" oils.

Thanks for the suggestion, but they don't have a machinist at the moment!!!

  13. On the subject of oil, I started to use Morris Lubricants. It is made in the UK and sold thru a dealer in the US called Classic Oil Supply classicoilsupply@aol.com The web sit is www.morrislubricants.co.uk I just started using this stuff in my 39 Indian so I can't say for sure it's the right thing to use but the literature seems to make sense. It is designed for older motors.

  14. Took the A for another, longer drive today. Despite it being 20 degrees and the car not really warming up, it did great. Gonna wait for some warmer weather to really tune it up.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I figured you guys are the best to ask. I have a 1931 model a flathead four engine and trans all stock all complete. Was a running engine last year. What is one worth? I need to try to sell or trade to continue my project.
    Thanks

    Looks great Chris.

  21. I agree, looks like a "hot rod" from the old days. I especially like the plumbing. I'm curious if the stock pump will pump enough for your dual setup. Article in the current issue of S O S S on "B" fuel pumps. In the article it states that the pump will put out 7.5 gals. per hour seem like it should be enough. Same internals as early V8 fuel pump according to the article. When I was in high school every one automatically installed an Autopulse.

Hey guys I need New tires for my 31 any input would be cool. I am thinking 550-16 firestone ww for the front and 700-16 firestone ww for the back. Its time to take off the 19" rims and run my 16s. Is coker the only place to buy tires?

YOUR CAR LOOKS BAD ASS Chis!!!!!!!!!!!

    thanks Bill

  26. Thanks Bill, means a lot comin from a guy like you. We'll see about fuel starvation, but seems fine for the couple drives I went on. When it gets warmer I'll take it on a longer faster run, kinnda see what'll happen :D

What in the world is an Autopulse???

I put the hood back on it, looks more complete to me.

The fuelpump from a Volvo b18/b20 is almost a bolt on to the b. (i am told) :)

  30. Well - my experiences.

Most of 2007, thrashing an as purchased stock '28 engine, pulling a square rigged Fordor Sedan through the air, 3.54 rear, and 7.50 x 16 Firestones. Ran fine, speeds in excess of 60-ish filled the cabin with oil fumes.

Decided to pull the engine to assess the oil blowby - sleeved bores 12 thou out of round, very poor white metal that hadn't been rattling but had broken where the previous engine builder must have scratched the "mud grooves" in with the edge of a spade...

2008 - back running with a Diamond B, mild porting, Thomas head, touring cam and stock manifolds. Sits happily at 55-60, runs over the 66.6mph limit of my bicycle speedo quite easily.

    Any help?
