Forgot to mark the carrier halves when I stripped this banjo rear . What is the worst that can happen? Any tips on solving placement?

Well you have a 1 in 4 chance of getting it right... or look at colors, markings that might indicate the way it was before. The cross bar may not matter.

You might also put the two halves together, and see if your fingernail can catch on the spider gear machined surface halves. Maybe one position over another with show better fitment. If in all 4 positions it seems seamless, maybe no harm?

I agree, a really close examination may show some kinda witness mark, and if not it must be close to new!

bct: Just a reminder. DO NOT use a tap to clean out the threads in the banjo center housing as they are a special class of fit to prevent leaks.

I even have my cross pin inverted, but it's not final assembly. 20250720_144304.jpg

  10. Look close for any kind of matching stains, discoloration, or nicks; there should be something that stands out. Kinda like sorting unmarked main caps.
