Heres the scoop: Need an open drive conversion for a 6 spline V-8 rear end. I've looked at both speedway ($269) and searched around on here with little reward. Anyone got a good source that can beat speedway's price and or won't take a machinist to make?

This is the cl***ic case of trying to save money and considering the Speedway parts. Buy from the best and American made supplier, Hot Rod Works. The FOGGER

I made my own open conversion, I do have a lathe. Even if you have to pay a machinist you will probably save $75 to a $100.
Very simple to do. You will have to get a new drive line made, What ever company that use will be able to provide the yoke. Have them get you a seal to fit the yoke. Take your torgue tube or another torque tube and cut it closer to the rear end that leaves the hole in the rearend, where the factory pin or bolt goes. Go to the machinist and have him weld a plate on the cut torque and machine the plate to accept the seal. Job done.
    good luck

I thought the DIY issue was finding a yoke that will go from 6 spline to standard U-joint?

I found a few tech articles but was more looking to see what other sources were selling.

    Thanks for the input guys

I'm no machinist and I made my own. For the yoke I machined out the centre of a T350 or 400 yoke and press fit part of the original 6 spline coupler inside it, then welded the ends and a couple of plug welds in the sides. Works good so far.

I saw one on here that failed...make sure you don't buy from them. I don't remember what company it was.

Well I think that may have settled it for me! No need to waste money when this is that simple...

Rereading the new post and the archived posts. The driveline shop I used found a yoke that fit the six (6) splined ford rear end, BayShore Equipment, in Ca. Saved the boring and welding of the coupler to the new yoke. It was not a special order yoke.
    Good luck

I think you're confused, the one recently that failed was a closed drive with a torque tube.
