I am going to use a 1940 Ford rear with enclosed drive shaft in my project car. It will be connected to a 1939 Ford top loader. My transmission tail shaft will be lower than the center line of the rear axles. (the drive shaft will run down hill to the transmission.
My question is what is the proper angle to mount the rear end? I am sure the drive shaft must run up hill to the transmission to keep the oil in the rear. Is there an angle to shoot for? Can it run down hill at any slight degree? Or will it operate fine if the drive shaft were perfectly level? I can make changes.....just need to know how much to change. Thanks in advance.

this will work better. it is a seal, not just a dam.

this is a seal plate i make. it goes between the center section and the torque tube. the seal rides on the drive shaft coupler keeping the oil in the rear end.

$100.00 will get it to your door.
