I can't find the thread from when This pickup first appeared on the HAMB. So here is a new thread with a few pictures of the new longer cowl for more leg room. Also I got ahold of the owner that started this thing to see about a ***le. Sent Ron Alexander of Oklahoma City, OK.$445 last November for a ***le. Nothing so far. I would suggest caution when dealing with Mr. Alexander
Nice tin work Rich! What are your plans for the truck, and what's the story on the V windsheilded Roadster? Bob
These pictures were taken at Foley Bros Custom Works in Redwood City, Ca. The roadster has a 302 GMC in it and is very nice, but I have not seen any work being done on it for some time.
so, how did you end up buying it without a ***le? get any paper work? done an online search using multiple searches like on Webcrawler to find out for sure where this guy is? lots of free info if you really look. asked for help from someone living in OK to do a drive by to make sure he is at address that you have? good luck with this. so, with hoping you can register it in Cali what are your plans for it? shorten bed and put wheelie bars on it?
It is planned to build a new frame stretching it 20 inches to 92. New hood and the cowl stretch making up the difference. I am installing a 2.8 Ford V6 and C4 along with an 8 inch for an all FoMoCo drive train. Other than that the body will stay pretty much as is but more cherry, I hope.
Well even though I am retired from a major US flag carrier and do have a gold card so airfair is not an issue. I don't see myself going to Oklahoma to look for $445. So knowing where he lives isn't much help. We will see what works out.
Rich A ***le is not that big a deal, damned shame you donot live in Kansas. Sorry you lost your cash at least you have the little truck. So that is an Austin bantam pickup? Are the rear wheels in the original location?
Not sure it's such a shame I don't live in Kansas. Never been there, but it's a long way away from what I am used to. Yes it's a Bantam pickup and the wheels are in the original location. Last Austin pickup I saw was also mine. Bought it in '59. Started building it with a Crager. Went in the Army. Came home, No Crager. Ran it with a 241 Dodge. This one is going to be nicer.
Hey now, let's not get snipey about the great Midwest! Actually what porkn****** is referring to is that in Kansas you can get a ***le for any old car just by asking for one. No inspection, no nothing. And cheap, too. NOW how you liking californiay?
Had a 38 Bantam P.U. and a 39 Coupe years back.. They're Little.. 10FT bumper to bumper with an 80" wheelbase.. Same as a golf cart........
no one said you need to go to OK, just verify his location and go from there. why not stretch the frame a little more and put a V8 in it?
I am putting the V6 in it because I want to. I had one with a V8 50 years ago. Been there, done that.
Ron Alexander from Okla City has been screwing people over for many years. I sent $400 to him years ago for a deuce dash that never materialized. US Postal and white collar crime dept knew all about him.
Today the OK ***le arrived in the mail. Better late than never. And I am happy with the deal afterall.
What do you call the Pink slip I have for each of my cars? I can't help but notice the "Certificate of ***le" written in big green letters on my pink. What part of California do you live in?
Glad the ***le showed up! Austins and Austin Bantams are both very cool cars! I'm sorta partial to them too!
Good news Rich. I wonder if he read the post and didn't want to get a visit from the HAMB Vigalantes?
I'd like to find (2) Bantam engines to see if I could finish what an old late friend staretd in 1946. He had acquired two complete Bantam roadsters to clothe the two track roadsters he was running in Indiana's Mutual Racing ***ociation. Ths was in about '42. In '46 he decided to do something with the leftover mechanicals of the two cars. The result was a slick rail frame midget with side by side 48" Bantam 4s with fabricated manifold/headers so the car looked outwardly like a V-8. Alas, it didn't work due to the choice of helical gears to tie the two engines together at the flwheel end. I inherited many of the remains of the car several years ago and have acquired several pieces to facilitate a restoration but anything short of the the "side by side" engine concept just wouldn't seem to be a suitable tribute to thr builder's dream. If I ever get that far, I'll join them with a chain & sprockets.
I swapped one of those Capri/Mustang V6/C4 combos into a Mazda pickup 25 years ago. It was a runner. The only modification I made was switching to a Holly two barrel.
Cool little ride and very nice fab work. Glad you finally got a ***le and that you are building it the way you you want. After all it wouldn't be YOUR car/truck if you didn't add your own twist to it.
