I have used Sharkhyde, and while it does work, it's hard to get a consistent finish (they tell you to use a
    Baby Diaper :) )-

If I was going to have a Bare Metal Finish, I think I would use Squeeg's Clear Epoxy (it is made for Bare Metal)-all of the benefits of an Epoxy while looking like it's Bare Metal-

    Gibbs

Worth the $$. Our Bonneville car has been in bare aluminum since 2009. Still looks good.

Gibbs is a fantastic product, mega penetrant and lubrication. I use it all the time on the farm, and all machinery. About 4 times the price of CRC, but goes at least 4 to 5 times as far, so is no dearer.
Can't seem to get PA 10 red oxide paint to stick to it, but maybe you need to sand the Gibbs off with 80 grit or something?

    Copper.

Dip it and forget it to go green or shoot a few mil of UV protective clear over it to keep the shine for years.

Heavy and a pain to repair. But, when done properly it would stand out better then some show room paint jobs.
