    Yep, I said free.

Here's the back story for you. I've got a buddy that lives around the corner that does a bit of automotive painting here and there. We were shooting the bull the other day and I asked him what his next project was going to be. He said someone gave his father-in-law a model A, and he wants him to paint it. I kinda got this mental image of exactly how rough a model A would have to be in order for it to be free... I guessed it had to involve cutting down a couple trees and at least two pickup truck loads to get all the parts home. I asked him what it looked like and he said he didn't know...but his father-in-law claims that he drove it home. Supposedly the guy that gave it to him has been tight with him for years and knew that he wanted an A. So he just gave him one of the five that he had! I really don't know how close of a relationship you've got to have with someone in order for them to just give you a car...apparently I need to work on my people skills.

Here's a couple pics I took of it today.

He drove it over and took my wife and I for a cruise around the neighborhood in it. Now my wife wants a model A!

The gentlemen that gave this one away has another one that he took apart to restore some time ago. Now he can't figure out how to put it back together. I'm trying to work through the channels to see if he would sell it to my wife and I. That's probably the only way I could afford one at this point since none of my friends are giving things like this away!:D

    Fuck, leave it alone.

  10. Neat car, too nice to restore, fill it up, check the oil and tires, and drive it. I see you're in GA, so drive it right on to Rockmart to our show at Rockmart High School on Saturday May 30. Cruise-in on second Saturday of the month April-November at Ingle's Supermarket in Rockmart.

I really don't know what the new owner plans on doing with it. I told em that I'd leave it like it is and just enjoy it.

I hadn't thought about telling my wife that people have "given" cars to me before.... I've got doubts about that line working though.

Well there is that old saying "what goes around comes around".
I love to hear good stories, very cool.
    I wouldn't paint it either.
I know a man here in VA that is 82 that could put one back together with his eyes closed.

His "friend" did something very, very bad once.

And your buddy's father-in-law has pictures.

Got to. That's the only explanation I can come up with for giving him that car.

Or, the guy has more money than Argentina.

I'm hoping to meet the gentleman that was kind enough to share part of his collection with a friend. Supposedly some of his others make this one look like junkyard fodder. (I'm also hoping he'll accept some C-notes for the disassembled A).

  16. I thought I did good getting a frame, front axle, steering, hood and bumpers all for free.

  23. No wonder it was a give-a-way. The interior is all wrong, the gear shift knob needs to be replaced and the spare tire cover is quite wrinkled. I'll bet it probably needs a muffler too.

Only thing I ever got for free was bad advise. They had to be real buddys for him to just give a car like that away but who knows there are many true friends out there and just maybe one of us may be next!
