this is awesome man. What did you use to bring the paint back? The car I'm about to pick up has decent original black paint on it, but it could use some love. I want to buff it out but I'm not sure how much paint is actually there to bring it back.

Also, what paint did you use to spot in the sections that needed it?

  2. So great buddy! I didn't know you started a thread. I can't wait to see it and you this weekend! Woot!

I'm being OT here but damn brendog, that's a fine avatar! I've seen that somewhere before. Would love to have a poster of that for the garage. Anyone know where I can find it? Drop me a message.

Sorry for the interruption...back to the shoebox!

I am not a fan of the spots or visor but the skirts are super cool. As a matter of fact so is the 49 as a whole. Glad you got a real good deal and a good looking and running car to boot. That 50 looks like it may sell for more than you paid for everything.

Thanks man. I like the ranchero more too- ;-) but... we could probably work a trade on a 34 roadster! ha :)

This was last years bingo win @kidcampbell71 :) only one bingo win a year allowed... haha.

Drove it to the drags last year and back without any trouble! A few tanks I averaged 27mpg keeping my foot out of it in overdrive.

Been a great little family car and summer commuter... I put seat belts in it for maple :)

Looks good with blackwalls too :)
My wife learned to drive a three on the tree in this car... hot laps around the bean field were going great until it sunk to the rockers... haha.

@deto I used a 3M wool pad and compound and took about half of the paint off that was there.... but its shiny and thats all that count. Just hit it with a coat of wax and youre done.

I used PPG single stage its a fleet paint CRE is the designation. Its similar to Concept but the drying characteristics are slower. Its been holding up awesome.

Sorry for the delayed response.... I missed some posts in this thread.

That thing is junk! You shouldn't have to soil your garage with this ragamuffin! I, out of the goodness of my heart, will rid you of this unsightly mess for FREE! PM me and I will have a commercial hauler pick up this unworthily shoebox. no need to thank me...thats just how I roll!:D
