Yep on that rack. :eek:We now know it will not work and have a custom rack coming from Unisteer that set it up as a cross steer.

Sounds like you have the steering already figured out :) and way ahead of me. Nice looking truck. Does that have wood framing in the doors? A frend of mine has a '35 and the wood was replaced with steel - now feels like opening a safe! Keep it up!

Yep this still has the wood in the doors. Alot of it was replaced with new oak.

I agree^^^...That is one mixed up ride, aftermarket straight axle with vintage lever shocks. Artillery wheels with disc brakes and rack steering, white walls against the cream wheels? Billet shift knob and late gauges including tach?

All that aside, you are doing a very nice job, great work. The customer pays and gets what he wants.

The new rack from unisteer is a great product. The customer really wanted power steering, which at this time was not available. But with this rack you can turn the truck, even sitting still, with very little effort!

 I'm guessing your trying to say front wheel drive? Ever try adapting any type of hydraulic braking system to a non Ford?

i liked it before but i think it looks nice finished. Wish it had red wheels with a cream pinstripe to contrast the white walls but thats just my opinion. Overall you did a nice job fixing it up.

  13. I liked it in the "before" stage, too.

I did it on my 36 international! Original 1946 Ford 12" hydraulic brakes with 12" Buick 45 fin drums.

I see what you did, but this truck has parallel leaf springs. We thought about finding another axle that you could adapt but most everything that runs parrallels is just as uncommon. That is a sweet truck though. What frame does it have?

By the way, I appreciate the labor and craftsmanship that you put into the truck to get it to meet the owner's demands. Very nicely executed. It's not my cup of tea, but it's not my check that paid for it either.

  18. This is the first time I've done this on the HAMB, but dang....that truck was infinitely more appealing the way it was.

At a car gathering, I would've spent a half hour looking over that old girl. As it is now, I'd just walk on by.

I'm not dissing the amount of work and craftsmanship that went into the build, but wow....some customers just have no sense of style.

Some rubbing on that old paint....going through the chassis....maybe straighten out and repaint the fenders...warm up the old banger....and it would've been sweet and unique.

Thanks. It's a good one for sure. It's a hand built custom fame. We took the body off of a 1.5 ton dump truck so there was no frame to start with.

One great build thread. You (subject to the aims of your customer) have executed this extremely well.;) I think you deserved to "take a bow" there in Post 127.:D I wish more great builders would do the same.

    BIG SALUTE!:D

Thank you very much Jim. This is probably the build I am most proud of that has come out of our shop. I must give credit to my employees Kevin (kwmpa) and Aaron Dressler. They did an amazing job on the truck.

like someone said in another post, the before state always gets the longer looks. i have taken all 3 c1's to shows only to have people walk right past the shiny one and spend 10 minutes staring at the rusty ones. your work looks outstanding, although not my look. just great to see more international's fixed up

Sir, you are welcome! I've watched this since you caught shit in the beginning:rolleyes:, EVEN though you were building to gen'l customer specs. You took the details in a direction the customer -- I am sure;) could never have imagined. You'll SEE that the thread rating is now above 4 BLUE STARS.:D

Further, I respect that you SHARE the credit with the OTHER guys who bust their knuckles. ;) There are people out here who apreciate and respect the efforts of REAL men who love cars and trucks.

Yeah I can't take credit for everything. I'm kinda like the idea man in the shop and these guys help make it happen. I did do most of the reassembly and a fair amount of the paint work but without those guys it would still be in primer.

Did this truck have a wood floor in the bed or would it have been a steel floor?

This truck had a steel floor from the factory. The owner used to haul flagstone so we had to replace and decided wood would look better.
