Barn find ... after 30 years off the road ...

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Deuce Roadster, Nov 9, 2006.

  1. That's a real nice car. Kinda reminds me of the story of my 68 GTO. Except mine has been continuously driveable condition for the 27 years I have owned it. My father bought it new, I got it at 16, so it is almost like original owner. Rebuilt the engine (100% stock) and repainted original color lacquer (verdoro green). I am a bit ashamed to say that it only gets about 200 miles per year the last about 10 years. It needs new paint and vinyl top now, but still runs like new. It is like a kid to me and I will never sell it. Mine is a 400-350 hp and turbo 400 auto with P/S, P/B and A/C. So it's a cruiser and not real fast.

My High School car was a 68 GTO Conv w/a Hurst shifted 4sp & safety track rear with Uniroyal Tiger Paw TARS. I made to very foolish mistake to sell that car as well as a 67 Shelby GT350, A 69 SS 350 Camaro(Which I later replaced and have to this day) right before the black monday stock market crash of late 80's.
My sister on the other hand kept her High School car which I helped her buy way back when. It too is a GTO Convertible 1965 edition.
Years ago she wanted it as a LeMans so I debadged it for her & put all of the LeMans stuff on & rat holed all of the GTO stuff in the family garage. I have the car stored @ my house now & will get to it soon.
She's not getting it back as a LeMans though, She's way through with French faze-lol! Her last kid is almost grown, so when he is gone she'll have her Lil GTO back too! Now if I could only find my old one.
Damn 32's & 34's that's why I sold mine, I was stinking hooked on early rods! Oops, I still am!
Deuce Roadster, Make sure that your brother appreciates what he has there! Those cars are fast! & Tell him I said that he was smart for keeping it all that time. Great Car! Great Story!
