That 57 has been totally untraditionalized since this footage has been shot.

I could take 3 guesses on what it was swapped with and the first 2 don’t count.

I would have driven it looking more like when found and just washed off.

  8. You’re right, it’s funny how some people think that swapping the modern for the old school is a good idea. Nothing against Summitt racing mind you, but one wonders.

    Isn't it a 210 and not a Bel Air?

I found the build videos on it. I've never seen that guys stuff, but 3 minutes was enough for me. That's not the way I would have gone with the car.

    You're right, it's not a Bel Air.

At least it didn't get crushed. Looks like it was a nice 57 when it was parked.

The vehicle is currently at Layton Autobody in Ephraim Utah. It’s fate is based on suggestions on which way it should go now. Wanna save it? Let Robby know.

Yeah, looks like a rare 210 HT, but it has the long upper quarter trim. It's harder to add those pieces than to delete the insert aluminum on a Bel Air. The trim tag would tell the story.

  15. They blasted off a lot of paint when they pressure washed it. I saw a lot of paint flying off with shiny metal appearing after that. A lot of water and soap went through the open windows as well. Sad.
I saw more videos and the “swap”. Looks like it was turned into a tire burner. It’s his car, whatever.

Seems like a lot of people call 57 Chevy hardtops Bel Airs. They do the same with 57/58 Plymouths referring to all of them as Furys. Lots of cars these days are getting that out of topic motor swapped in. I go to a few cruise nights and a lot of the mid-sixties Chevys have 350 crate motors. I went to look at a 1963 Impala with a 409 and even that had a 350 in it. The owner said the original motor was gone when he got the car and the 350 was cheap by comparison. I can understand that. That 57 has had a hard life.

Me either. I had to fast forward to just see the end. I know what the clean up process looks like.

I watched some of the video. I was not impressed. That car is beyond patina and needs to have its body redone.

I know what it smells like, too. It's much more enjoyable to see the end result without the smells.

  23. Nope.
That car just needs a clean up and make it go and stop.
I dig paint. Been a part of several high end builds.

I like these videos. This is the way to communicate with younger folks (holy shit, I just said 'younger folks' o_O)

Showing off what you can do with a little time and effort is a good thing. And showing that these cars are worth it is a good thing. A lot of people don't get that kind of exposure like a lot of us did.

When I was 13 my dad took me up to the mountains and we dug out a mid 70s ford pickup in similar shape and gave the guy like 200 bucks for it. We went to the local parts store like 5 times and 8 hours later we were driving off with it. Did the same thing when I was 15 with a 60's Econoline. I drove that thing to school and work and it was an awesome little surf van.

My daughter's almost 8, so I have some time but I want her to see me do this a couple times and then go get her one.

Unfortunately not a lot of kids get to do that anymore. So if they see it online- I'm all for it.

Even if it gets an LS and big ol summit wheels and shit, hey it's better than getting crushed by that dumb barn. :D

I agree w @chevy57dude It is a Belair, has the top of the quarter trim that is long only on bel airs and the front fender louver trim that is only on Bel airs. and I watched the videos looking for a dash shot (man those videos are hard to watch) and the car has bel air dash trim and a Bel air emblem

I would say, perhaps not. Kids get distracted by other interests at a very young age now. I would have her in the garage this weekend, just helping you clean, handing you wrenches, holding a flashlight, spinning on a lug nut... really anything that she can do that she finds the least bit interesting. They are never too young to start.

  27. They did a fantastic job cleaning that thing and giving it a new lease on life .

just seeing the rust around the back glass and the bit of the frame you could see in the front wheel wells , I bet the interior is complete garbage .and this thing needs a complete going over .

but in reality it , hidden in what was left of that barn covered in moss and compost .

MOST folks would have walked right past that scrap pile or written it off as a parts car .

but seeing it clean , even if they gutted the interior it’s clean and everything is visible .

they turned potential scrap or a parts car , into something that someone sees a spark of light
    A custom
    A gasser
    A hot rod

a fu!%ing project that needs to get back on the road . Who cares what summit is doing to it , it can always be undone , heck even if it’s not it’s still a Tri-five that on the road turning heads .

while I do find them boring , I also like watching these extreme clean videos as the end result is amazing .
