Actual barn find. It appears the car has not been touched since 1959. It's a 29 Nash model 422 Convertible Coupe. Engine and tranny are mid 50's Chevy. They also converted the front brakes to hydraulic. The steering gear was offset in the frame to make clearance for the drivetrain. The wood in this car is amazingly solid. No real plans for this one yet.
A V8 swap and hydraulic brakes but with the original wood wheels, I don't think I've ever seen that before. Pretty neat. Why are the headlights offset like that?
Even with a stock SBC, that must have been quite a sleeper with the all stock body and wood wheels! Neat car. Did you get any history with it?
Early directional headlights eh? Kinda like the Trippe lights of the era and later used by Citroen and then touted by Lexus/Toyota as an innovation eighty years later.... I love those convertible coupes /cabriolets of the late 1920s....
Get rid of the wood wheels! That V8 will wiggle the spokes to death if the brakes don't. I had steel wheels cut from 3/8" plate, welded to new rims to look just like the original spoke wheels. Mine is always taken for an original car at shows until I open the hood.
It doesn't look like the hood side will clear the stock fuel pump. I would get it running, clean it up and enjoy the ride.
