DO NOT CHOP IT! It's a survivor, leave it as it is. Fix the motor, dropped axle and juice brakes. It has earned a place in history. Take good care of it and don't let it rust away.

Why does everything need a chop? the trucks are cool enough as-is.

Ya know, sometimes "OLD" is good enough.

I really dig it the ways it is and the ol' window sticker ads a deatail that cannot be replicated.

Drops the flattie into it, juice he brakes, drop it and have a ball.

  8. I really like it the way it is. I would not even paint it. Change all the rubber, update the brakes. I would even keep the org. motor or one like it.
Won't take much then have some fun with it.
I was out the oyher day and down the street comes a 29 flatbed ford pu with a load on it for the dump just running along like an everdt event. Awsome

Im a hoarder like everyone else,Got a pair of 40 juice fronts just need a set of rear backing plates. As far as the"turn signals"go,my buddy took them off already, lol.
He said he couldent look at them any longer.
Im torn no doubt as to how far to cut her up.I would keep the banger if i had some early speed stuff but a stocker just isnt in my blood.
    The V8 i intend on using is a 276 8ba with 49 ab heads.
Maybe drop the gennie heavy axle and keep her in stock form is where im leaning now.The cab is rust free, they didnt use salt on the roads last time she saw the road in 66.As it stands now all the white stuff is off her and shes been decat turded sitting in my buddys heated shop.Soon as i finish rebuilding my home shop ill be bringing her home.I have to agree with the majority, some things for the most part need to stay as is,this one may be one of them.

    Thanks for the suggestions guys.....Gary

I would build it like Chris's Model A, stock looking, put your flatty in it, some new shoes...paint it the stock color or just wear that paint...nice find!!

    Awesome truck!
Obviously, it's yours and you can do whatever you want, but I sure wish you'd
    go a non-chop route...

Did I mention it looks great?

  15. I think that the majority here agrees that you shouldn't chop that bed or cab but to leave it pretty much stock. I have to agree. A V8 flattie and a stock body with a nice rake, steelies and caps would be way cool. I wish I could find a truck that clean. That's how I would go. But it's yours and you can F%$K it up however you want. Why would you want to build it DOWN? It'll just be one more rat rod that looks like the rest of them. Like s&!t.

check out the motor before you scrap it...is the block a B motor...fuel pump on passenger side...someone will probably want that as well as the fuel pump, trans, ect

  17. And it sat since 1965 untouched. why would you want to fuck it up now? This thread has gone 3 pages alreay of people telling you just how bitchin' that truck really is in stock trim. Wake up and smell the coffee dude, these dont come around too often. Or at all. And it's a on year only design. 32 anything is worth too much to just.....chop up. That's too simple man. Show us that you have a mind and can create. Not build down just to fit in to a fad. Anybody can build a rat rod. Only the few can create a BITCHIN' rod. Now express yourself, create man, create....create.
Jazz bongos in the background, inscense, candles, long hair, beads, sandals. Groovy man, groovy. heheh

Clean it up... maybe toss a coat of wax on it to halfway make it shine... toss the flathead V8 into it.. .and just update the little things to make it safe. I wouldn't touch a thing about that little pickup! Its a perfect little gem just the way it is.

If you Chop it and shorten the bed, you'll be different... just like everyone else.

Even though I have a chopped truck I think you would get a lot more enjoyment out of driving this one unchopped due to the limited room inside to begin with. There is a lot to be said for sitting up like Henry intended and driving somewhat comfortably instead of scrunched down.

Great find, keep us posted on future progress.

I'd drop in the V8; juice the brakes, clean up all the paintwork, and leave the body stock. Get that cracked block welded up and save all the parts....just in case someday you have a whim to bring it back to original. Sure is a good selling point down the road also. Real nice find.
It's 2009...I think it's my turn to find one of these barn things !!!

Repair and add speed equipment to the motor add hydro brakes and repaint it all the same colors but don't keep the pink dash

If that steering wheel lock works, It don't need much more. Adjust the brakes, fix that busted block, and go!

  24. Hell, just stick it back in a barn, nail the doors shut, and leave it hidden another 40 years. Then drag it out, chop it, shorten the bed and stick the flatty in it. Some of the geezers wont be around to tell you how to build your car.
Nice ride, though, and great score...

Yes it works fine and the mechanical brakes work still also.As well as the e-brake.
They filled the tires, they all held air and pulled it to my buddys shop up the road on all 4s.
The block is ok the head is all that cracked.Im getting another head with the truck. While it sat in the shop,Ray(the guys shop its at)tryed polishing a part of the hood,it shined like a new penny.
I started a model a on deuce rails pickup before this came my way.
Still collecting parts but will be put on hold when the b comes home.
Ill save the wrath of the sawzall for it.
Thanks again guys for the suggestions.......Gary
btw ACHOPPEDCOUPE That truck is swell,Kinda what i was thinking.

  26. Like Kirk said, leave it the fuck alone!!! At least...... I THINK thats what he meant.

  27. It appears from the pictures that it has the Model 18 rear end, (the 33-34 style). That should mean that it is a late 32 since most of the "B"'s and early V8's used the Model A type rear. The Model 18 rear should be a better choice behind that flathead.

DON'T CHOP IT....my DAD chopped my truck 4 inches in 1955....it is short on headroom.....put juice brakes on it and the flathead in it and drive it.....great looking truck....

  29. Chop it!!!! That way it will look just like all the others.

It's good to know when to stop. HRP nailed it.

Sweet rust-free canvas that won't require an inane amount of metal repair work first before modifying..? Chop and shorten away! Doubtful another opportunity like this will come around so modify that truck as you've always envisioned.
