My dad helped a guy that he knew (his name excapes me but he was a early ford dealer kinda guy) unload a 32 sedan delivery body in the 70's i think.

  2. Some else here put it succinctly -

    HAVE FUN WITH OLD CARS.....

My opinions on what is a barn find, what is traditional, what is lame, what is correct etc will be forgotten as soon as I have expressed them on here.

    SO WILL EVERONE ELSE'S.....

Do what ya want John, but you know, Id have that 3W in a heartbeat - fake patina or not.

    And I already have a 3W.

John, do what you want, judging from your previous work, and your Cheater pals, it'll turn out just fine.

For a start, I'll leave the stock suspension alone, after a short while, maybe do hydraulic's, axle, bigs and littles. I like to slowly shape the project, after getting everyones attention. If I keep it, ultimately better fenders, hood, grille, etc. Then super paint-AKA The transformation

Paul Sullivan now owns the car.
He is a local fellow (the Milwaukee area).
Another cool cat, really worthy of the machine John created.

The car still looks nearly the same, the wheel & tire combo is different, but still very cool & the rear end (Ford Banjo) has been chrome plated & rebuilt.
The flatty runs OG Cyclone Heads & Manifold, side note, I told Kevin from Cyclone about this car & I told Paul about Kevin & I think Paul is currently looking into a Cyclone quick change.
The car is super rad, Paully brings it to our show every year.
The car has a ton of history!
I hope John elaborates on it, he knows it best since he was part of it.

    Love,
    Cheatercarl

People on here amaze me some times. They all talk about wanting to learn all they can from the old timers, but then one posts his latest project on here, they blast the **** out of him! No wonder why many of them that I know think this place is just full of smart *** punk kids! He's taking an old original ch***is, and putting a new steel body on it, and painting it to match the existing paint. He said nothing about bird ****, rust or anything else. I agree with Cheater Carl, think before you start blasting. Not to sound like a kindergarten teacher, but....If you haven't got anything good to say, then keep your mouth shut!, or your hands off the keyboard!

primer it and then wrap it in plastic with a bucket of acidified water in with it. Leave it outside for a year, that ought to do it.

You guys got it all wrong.

Here's some pics of my deuce 3-window[Brookville] that I'm going to try and make into a barn find. I had to leave for Arizona, and CheaterCarl bolted the body on my ch***is. Thanks Carl, the weathers fine here in Havasu.
    Stimac

He is saying he had to leave for Arizona, so his friend Carl put the body on and put it in a barn. He is hoping to find it again someday when he comes back from Arizona. You guys need to read it a little better......(smile now)

even if you could find a barn find that would be as good as the one he is building ,it would cost 150,he'll have half that in it and it will be SWEET

this ****s i'm new here and it seems like alot of people on here have a little to much money to buy and play with cars and tell every one els what to do with there cars or put them down for building a car or truck the way it was,is,or would be from back in the day. Not everybody is made of money and can BUY an old drag car, show car, lakes car.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

do you have a point here..or just trying to piss someone off??

  20. g***er55t.......Money is not needed to have fun in this hobby. When I was 24 I never had much money to spend on projects. Now I'm 49 and it's still the same old thing. There are many different levels in this hobby, don't feel like you have to play at the top level. I have friends at all levels but I have to play at my level and it forces you to be very creative. Sometimes I think the lower level hot rodders are having the most fun. Lack of cash flow sure makes you appreciate what you have.

Your right g***er55t but unfortunately there will always be people who think their way is the only way. but if the person allows other peoples thoughts to steer he/she away from their vision then it becomes that other persons car/truck. the best thing is to take in consideration to thoughts and ideas from others and either use them or just go about your first instincs. That is just the way the world is. I havemany people telling me something should be like this or that the thing is if I am not being commissioned to do a piece of art or whatever for them I politely tell them thanks for the critic and go about my business. Usually it works out well for me.

I know a guy that did that with a Brookville, but used a tube of construction adhesive to apply faux *********** welds on the faux patch panels. Yes, the finished product sold at a profit. :D:eek::rolleyes:

This thread is mighty funny. :) So lemme get this straight; the guy wants to build his car to emulate a "barn find", and gets **** on. Other guys build cars to emulate salt bed racers (and never bring them to a salt bed), or old g***ers (and never race them), old "old school" rods to "lool like" they were built in the 50's (built in the 2000's), and that's all OK? But a barn find look isn't? Don't get me wrong, I love them all, but this is just plain old WEIRD. Build it the way YOU want it. Who gives a rats azz what people at shows think and say? If YOU like it, then it's cool. Post pix, cause I like to watch! :D

    Hello little tiger.

The car belongs to Big John Stimac - Owner of The Hot Rod Shop of Milwaukee. Long time hot rodder, HUGE Duece guy (Continental John has a crush on him). Also a great open mouth kisser.

Chizzle, you know I can be an opinionated individual w/certain things/people, well I can tell you the dude is 100% right on, he gets it all the way, the original post was just misunderstood we will say. NOT that I need to expalin it any further, I would just like to make sure the record is straight.

All that being said, God Bess The Green Bay Packers

    Your BFF,

    Fellas,
The body of this car is a very well prepped & primed Brookville, there is NO patina on the body, the body itself spent a month plus at a very well respected local body shop. It is literally ready for paint.

The ch***is, running gear, fenders, firewall, (everything except the body) is REAL orignial Ford equipment, the patina on all those goodies is as geunie as it gets, just an ***embly of goodies that John Stimac had laying around. (yes the dude has lots of kick *** stuff just laying around).

As stated in a prior post, John & The Hot Rod Shop of Milwaukee are authorized Brookville dealers, so the car is sort of like a rolling advertisment, NOTHING more (well it is pretty cool too).

    I love hot rods

    Sincerely,
    Cheatercarl
