Yeah, rear bumper and over-rider are '53 Pontiac. Click the link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mr38/384262652/ That's really cool....hope you get it!
I have a 39 Conv't coupe also. PM me if you have questions. Also, if you get the car, the early ford V8 club has an excellent book that may help.
PLEASE take pics as you pull it out and as you wash it....It would be sooo kool to see and come to life again!!
Its true, this could officially be called "The 2008 H.A.M.B Coolest Discoveries Week" Good luck with purchasing the 39, it is a very cool car. It would be great to see it driving around the area. I guess I need to actually make it outside my garage doors and see whats out there!
Wow, a 39 convertable. What a great find. I'd clean it up, get the flathead going & dress it up a bit, maybe shoot some paint on it if it didn't wash up too well, and leave it at that. I hope you get it.
29bowtie - the '30 Chevy isn't really HAMB friendly, so you won't be seeing it on here. Check out my website ctaulbert.com for some pics
Thanks, great site, beautiful car.I like a variety of styles, and my 29 isn't HAMB material either. Nice 59 too.
Yo Dude: you have the find of the year. A 39 drop top with an 50 Olds cluster in a 40 dash. The 50 plymouth front bumper is cl***ic. The tail ligfhts are hard to see in the picture because the lens is broke. The lens, if it is one half of a sphere it is a 50 Pontiac, if it has two bullet like shapes on one lens it's a 50 or 51 Buick. With the flattie and all I would say it was built pre 1955. Congradulations on a great find. Smarty Jones.
Well here's the update: I got the car. I'm still figuring some things out about it, like how the top works. The framework that spans the window opening looks like it must fold in towards the center of the car. There's not a header board with it, but I ***ume it must have had one. The motor is supposed to have a merc crank, but you know how that goes.... I'll find out when I pull the motor. I'm going to put the running boards back on the car, and I'm thinking about pulling the bumpers off. Anyway, here are the new pics.
Very, Very cool.... So, is that one pic in the original post of the bottom side of the Rumble seat? I guess the rumble is filled. It would be cool to open the rumble again.. The dash is definitely cool! Like was mentioned before, if the car has no 'history' to speak of, do it anyway you want.
Damn Cory, that is the cats ***. What a fun project, if you don't want that 49 Plymouth front bumper I'd be interested. Keep us posted on what you find out about the motor. It looks to me like just the header bar is missing. That might be a hard to find item. Good Luck BB
Congrats!!!NOW..THIS is a barn find, the everybody's dream!!! Glad you have it.... i dig very much the exaust from the body..lot of neat custom touches here... funny detail,a local mexican friend just brought from an old man a 39 Ford sedan with exactly the dame 50 Olds speedo...looks really cool!! clean it and drive it....have fun!!!
