Its an event... And its a big one! Like most big events it has a lot of carnival atmosphere, and lots of quirky folks and high rollers . Its muscle car oriented because that's where the money is right now . But it is an Auto related event that I'd like to attend!

The REAL car people were all in Hershey, not under some big top in Vegas. It is yet another sign of their arrogance to hold an event the same weekend as the world's largest collector car event.

    That's what I think, you asked :D

I for one would be happy to watch any of the other but since B-J is the only game in town....

my thoughts exactly, Megan. But the arrogance of Hershey having their event on the same weekend as the Hunnert:eek:

I recorded the entire B-J broadcast. You can watch a lot of coverage when you fast-forward thru commercials and parts that are not of interest. Very interesting results. Pickups are strong, "resto-mods" are strong, collectible cars are off a bit (opportunity for those with the funds). The best point is that it only takes two to make an auction...a unknowing bidder and a good auctioneer. Why do you think Spanky acts so confused? He was "jacking" the entire time and got caught. He is a master. Dumb like a fox.

You shuda made a donation to the Union, that might've helped. We were setting up for a market show a few years back. One of my guys took out his screw gun and picked up a board and the whole place stopped working until he put it away. Union Labor!!

I'd rather watch an R-M auction. No circus atmosphere.

I can't imagine buying a car at B-J auction and having some dufus literally in your face trying to get you to up your bid. What is that all about?

I heard the economy in the USA, that the car was actually full of Americans trying to sneak into Mexico.

That my friend is probably what the TV guys call "good T-V"....reality(?)...
What network/channel carries any other auctions like R-M? All I get is SPEED...

  14. If I was at a used car lot and Steve Davis walked out of the office with those shades I'd be long gone. Seriously, would you buy a used car from "Slick?"

Yeah, what did Hershey do? Maybe fifty thousand? How many millions do you figure watched BJ on TV? I also wonder how many of them were REAL?

  16. I was at The Shelby Factory Tour Friday...there were a bunch of Bj attendees along as well...overheard one say...I didn't buy it, it was the wrong color, and it was "ONLY $135,000" so not worth looking at....

Fifty thousand what? People? Dollars? On either account you are way wrong.

When you say 'Hershey' who do you mean? The vendors? The car corral folks? The AACA? Or how about RM Auctions? They did $8,664,700 (yep that's over 8 MILLION) with a 94% sales rate. Their top selling car was a 1931 Marmon Sixteen Convertble Coupe for $517,000; that's $77,000 more than B-J's highest sale, a 1965 Shelby Cobra Roadster for $440,000 (which includes the 10% buyer's premium).

see all results from RM sale here:
    http://www.sportscarmarket.com/auctions/do***ents/RM_Hershey_10-09-09.pdf

And in terms of people, they estimate the crowds at 250,000, I bet that many people didn't attend B-J!

    PS- I LOVE your Muntz!

Being on TV, that must be the true sign of a real automotive enthusiast event - when millions of lard ***es can sit in their lazy boy recliners and be "archair experts"

I can't wait for Bonneville Speed Week to be televised each year, then it will really be something!

And what the hell was up with that bidding ***istant that sounded like some kind of deranged jungle bird everytime his guy bid? Thank goodness for a mute ****on, between this guy and Spanky it was really bad to witness.

I ended up scoring some suite tickets to the show, provided by a fellow gearhead. Was interesting to see some of the behind the scenes, but better yet was the vendor area. Got closeups of discount's wide whites. And a look at a metal bender which can bend flat stock the hard way up to 90s witout much distortion. Metalbendingtool.com
