I took my 1941 Plymouth pickup truck to the Barrett-Jackson West Palm Beach Auction in March 2006. My truck was worth $30,000. It was short gaveled for 12,096.00.The contract stated I would get a check in the mail in 21 days. Well it took a lot of phone calling to Barretts And complaints to Attornet General In Florida to get my money( 8 weeks). 3 weeks after the sale of my truck at the auction I found it on sale online at the buyers auto lot in Maryland. 2 weeks later it was sold for 2 times the amount sold at auction. I stiil didn't recieve any money at this time. I called Barretts and the buyer and told them they stold my truck . They took my truck they took my title and I had to fight for my money. So this is to let other sellers beware what you see on TV isn't what happens in the real world.

For a first post, Ild say thanks for the heads up, but Bitching on the first post won't get you much sympathy.
Some guy comes into my garage and starts bitching right off the bat, I might close the door on him the next time he drives into my driveway.
    You follow ?

yea- I know your intentions were good, but frankly you sound like you want somebody to blame and the H.A.M.B. isn't the place.

Your truck was worth $ 12,096 at that very moment and $ 24,000 2 weeks later. Thats the way it goes.

Why because you got suckered into thinking WOW- there are guys at Barrett Jackson with gobs of money that will pay 30K for my truck.

Well - if you have ever been to car auctions -90% of the people there are wholesale dealers looking to snag a ride to make some money period.

Did you have a reserve on your truck ?
If not - why not ? Because you wouldn't have to pay the commision fees vs. No reserve lower fees.
    YOUR MISTAKE PERIOD.

B.J. was shitty in the time it took to get a check, no argument there.

    You learned a lesson buddy.

Auctions are for dealers/ wholesalers and suckers needing to sell their rides.
Unless you have been doing it a long time, stay away from auctions unless you find a desparate owner looking to bail out.
