Hear that? The sound of that nail being hit perfectly on the head. Also i think it's fair to point out that Sam got tired of cars and became an insurance investigator & fire commissioner after leaving Barris Kustoms in the late '50's.George stuck with cars, and is passionate about them still. Paul

George may have made several significant contributions to the automotive world but he is a bullshit artist first and foremost, and in many cases an outright liar! I am speaking from personal experience. Now...all you children who don't want to hear it can call me juvenile names.
I won't call you any juvenile names. Just shake my head and let you live in your narrow world of hate. Enjoy being you. It must rule.
It really does rule being me. And it's not a narrowminded opinion, it's from personal experience with that jerk and his asshole offspring.
I know and like George, and as for working on cars, Once in a conversation with Junior Conway he felt a lot of people who were not there felt that George didn't work much. But per Junior George did a lot of work in the shop. I haven't asked Bill DeCarr. But Both Junior & Watson liked George.

While a lot of people here jump on Mr. Barris about his styling ideas , theres no deneying the fact that Custom cars are built primarily for the owner , not the general public . Face it , George Barris gave all of us as model builders back in the early 1960's a platform to later become the Future custom car builders some of us became years later . For me , I went into the Custom Van field and manufactured my own line of products . Say what you want about george Barris . Still, I wish I had a quarter of the money he has generated over the years through tie -in's with models , paints , ans just the use of the Barris name ! scrubba
He is a master..... for taking credit for cars he didn't build. Sam is the one that should be the one giving thanks to. I don't think he really built the batmobile, didn't Bill Cushenberry do all the metal work on it and George took credit for it. Dick Dean built the surf woody that was designed by Tom Daniel, the munsters coach and dragula were also designed by Tom Daniel, but no credit was given. Lets not get started on what was taken from Dean Jeffries. Ask Steve Scott who kicked Georges ass with the uncertain t what he thinks about him. Every dirty trick you can think of was tried to keep Steve Scott from winning. King all right, king of the bull shitters.
like him or not he had a grate deal to do with customs because he made a name you can bash the work personaly he enerjised ne to enjoy customm work and be part off it as for move cars they had to be done quickly i had some experance with that and to all the custom builders Thank You
You know, this influx of self opinionated FNG's coming on here and and talking tough from behind the safety of their keyboard without the decency of atleast filling out their profile properly first is really starting to piss me off I say again, as I already have this thread, but it obviously needs repeating, fucking read this; http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=385721&highlight=1953+article Before giving your narrowminded opinions on a Kustom legend. I don't believe this thread was started to find out how many people like the guy as a person. As far as I'm concerned he could be the biggest bastard to ever walk the face of the earth, but this misconception that he didn't know the first thing about building Kustom and it was all down to Sam is just ridiculous Paul
It must be pretty personal since you felt the need to reply to a post that had last been commented on before the 4th of July and it's now Christmas. It's the season to be jolly, maybe it's time to get past these things and try to enjoy life.
