Basecoat under silver metal flake???

    Might spray the dash in the '49 with silver metal flake (spraycan)is their a color I should spray under it as a basecoat too improve the looks of it? Thanks-

    I would use a color that is very close to the color your spraying, like grey primer.

    Yeah I thought I would spray some filler primer and wet sand and all that. I thought I had read somewhere that certain colors worked well under metal flake to improve the final product??? Thanks-

    use a light metallic silver. the more metallic it is the better.

    yeah try to get a coarse metalilc silver ....post pics when you are done i would like to see metalflake in a spray can that doesnt look like a metallic....not doubting you at all .....just want to see .....as i havent seen one yet ....

    Try a bright white base coat. Makes a great base for candies and pearls.
     
  8. I was looking around pep boys the other day and they have this spraypaint taht comes out kinda like a chameleon (sp?) finish..looked pretty metallic. anyone use this stuff?? i think you have to buy like 3-4 cans it comes in steps..clear coat etc...
