Technical basic body work

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Karl Fields, Nov 2, 2016.

  1. Thought about learning hoe to do some basic body work in my spare time. Not to make a living or get into metal shaping, just some basic stuff. Anyone have a good instructional video to recommend?

There's a TON of 'em on Youtube.

  3. Take a class at the local tech school for some hands on instruction. HRP

I agree with HRP, but most of my skills have been trial and error. If you could get someone that has the skills and teach you them in trade for your skills then it is a win win. If ya don't try you will never learn. Ask questions then ask some more. The first thing I learned is I didn't even know enough to know what questions to ask. Then ya get a fender with a dent and practice. Nothing happens overnight, but with every hammer blow, and every dent, you will learn, good luck.

I strongly second the "practice" recommendation. You gotta learn this by doing it. And it's a long road....have fun!

(community college is good because you pay money for your practice time, which might be a good motivator)

Our teachers in tech school gave us junk cars to practice on they started us with BFH to a fender made us pull the dent as straight as we could then fill it prime wet sand and paint it. May be an option for you to try

Get one round faced hammer, and one mushroom dolly. Watch a ton of videos. Practice.
