Did a search but can't find any pics of B***'s Hemi "A". Is there a build thread, or do any of you have some good pics? Thanks!
His own car or the Wade Coupe? https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/build-the-b***-coupe-build.104217/ https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...el-a-coupe-build-thread-photo-journal.336494/ The Wade Coupe just sold recently, there is at least one thread about that. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/the-wade-coupe-in-motion.1340751/
If you do instagram, he puts all of his stuff on there...pics & vids. https://www.instagram.com/b***kustom/?hl=en and build stuff here: http://www.b***kustom.com/phone/index.html#top
I still have it and it’s still on the road, essentially unchanged since 2010, other than a few minor changes. I drove it to the Gathering at the Roc last fall, the Lonestar Roundup this spring, and Pistons and Paint last month. It currently has small-window Halibrands on it, so it looks a little different right now. I think most of the build thread photos are gone because it used to be expensive for Ryan to host photos on this platform and everyone was encouraged to use photo sharing sites to upload pics. Something like that. Anyway, I decided to stop paying to host my photos years ago and that’s why the pics are all gone. I still have most of them on a drive somewhere. As said above, I post on Instagram regularly (mostly in the “stories” section) because it’s just way easier and less time-consuming for me. I do like the idea of in-depth build threads, and wouldn’t mind doing more of those…it’s just hard to sit down and block out the time to do that. If there’s something specific you want to see or ask about, let me know. Here’s some recent pics:
No problem. A few things about the car that probably aren’t immediately obvious: The ‘32 frame isn’t pinched for the Model A body. I cut the firewall and cowl to make them fit. The rear tail panel is a taller ‘28-29 roadster panel, and is installed a couple inches higher up than normal. That made the decklid shorter than a stock Model A decklid. The top insert is steel and made from a ‘59 Chevy four-door roof skin, which I wrapped in vinyl. A normal ‘29 Coupe has the top material come down to the drip rails. There are a lot more details. But those are a few that most people don’t see or understand.
It’s in Minnesota. It never got finished, but it’s in capable hands. Not sure what the plan is for it now.
Thanks from me too for coming in and clearing stuff up! I'll be the Curious George in the room on this. I'm sure you get this all the time. Scotchbrite and Gibbs? The outer surface is tough enough, How the heck do you get to all the tight little corners inside?
Yes, Scotchbrite and Gibbs brand oil is what I use. Occasionally I will hit spots here and there with 180 grit paper if necessary. Since the car lives in a climate controlled shop now, I only have to lightly scuff it about once a year, unless it gets rained on. (It's been rained on a lot...Gibbs is good stuff). I would still like to paint it some day....but I have too many personal projects I still want to get to...so who knows if that will ever happen.
Agreed. @B*** 's two coupes and one roadster build threads heavily inspired me to attempt fabbing my own stuff instead of settling for whatever was available from Summit or Jeg's.
