Have a battery that was low on water, top of plates visible in one cell only, others not far behind but still holding 12.5v charge. So I added distilled water, a bunch up to the cap tube thingy, put on a low charge overnight, now it's dead. Did I dilute the electrolyte too much?

You need to recharge it with a higher amp charger, but the cell that was lowest on water may be going bad. Good Luck, Gary

Not unless it is running out on the floor. You should not put too much water in, as you charge up a battery the water level rises, plus hydrogen bubbles out. Best to just cover the plates and top up after it is charged if necessary.

Adding water will not kill your battery. I don't know what happened to it.

Slow charge is better, and safer, than a fast charge. Try leaving it on for a couple of days with a low charge, like 2 amps.

What kind of charger are you using?
