I do like the trays that have the top strap across the center / over the short width of the battery, far away from the terminals. In the lessons learned department, I had one of those Summit / Moroso style plastic boxes with lid (6 fasteners as I recall) on my 37 Fordor. Very cool, well made, looks nice, race legal.... but I over-engineered / out-thunk myself and put it in the trunk up over the rear axle on the right side. Wasn't I racy? Lots of extra cost in the long leads forward, too. Dubble duh. Ran the vent lines, etc. On the only day I ever needed a jump I was on a trip... and had to completely unload the trunk (at least it wasn't raining) and use a screwdriver to remove those nifty looking screws. Just a pain. Nothing easy or "quick" about getting to the battery when I had to. Next time the box will have a strap or something easy to hold the lid on (back to marine box types) and I'll put the battery in a location far easier to access, preferably under the hood like Henry did it in the first place. Certainly not on the frame in a place you'd have to crawl under the car or use a lift to service the battery. If not, I'll add some jumper terminals / plug set in a convenient place reasonably close to the battery. Gary

for tight spot batterys I always make a jumping connection near it or near the line end in the front close to the starter , one thing I learned from working on trucks is to write the date of the battery on the box so you know if its dead from draw or dead from age . my buds battery box to get at it you have to unbolt it from under the car then slide it out as its that tight of fit , but he wanted a clean trunk in a O/T , and we only have had to remove it 2 times and that was to change it out ( dead from age ) I am trying to decide what to do on the 50 as I have lots of room in the engine compartment but looking at weight bias too .

i have a bungie cord on it... try just super glue on it...
right now I'm trying a $20 garden tractor battery in my 89 suburban (which starts quickly)... seems to be working good so far. if not super glue then maybe I'll try some silicon bathtub seal stuff.

***uming you're talking about me, I appreciate this informative post you made on helping me with this issue. I made this thread to see what other people did because I was curious, not stupid. But thanks for making me aware that I have no common sense! What a pal. :D
