I was wondering where some of you guys got your batteries in the 49 F1 model trucks?

I set the old stock one in place and noticed it would be quite a challenge to change or access the spark plugs and valve cover bolts on my SBC, so I got an old firewall mounted one from laying out back in the weeds and with the hood hinge location it has to be set low and in as well

if you guys are useing the stock one did you make a "door" in the inner fender to be removed to get at your sparkplugs?

Farmers didn't change spark plugs on farm trucks. They just kept adding the used oil they got out of the wife's go to town car till the damned thing wouldn't run anymore. By then the truck had "depreciated" and they'd buy a new one. The old one typically would be left where those rich city boys could see it from the road and come make offers on it. [IMG]

Don't know about f-1's but I'd think there'd be enough room on the p***enger side firewall to mount it like they did on 55-57 Chevy trucks.

friggen rich city folks coming to buy up all the trucks us cheap ****s could get several more years service from! [IMG] [IMG]

I got a firewall mount battery box out of a 55-57 chevy truck but the hinge on the f1 sits so low it makes no difference from the stock one

I guess a guy could hog a hole in the inner fender to access them vitals! 60's style makes a nice cut with that little plasma cutter maybe he could drop by and make me up something fancier than I could [IMG], geez I miss then old tin oil cans! [IMG]

Would an Optima fit behind your seat?

its all gas tank behind the seat so no room

I was thinking behind the grill to the side but I don't know how much room or access would be for that since the front fenders, grill, etc is laying in pieces

if worse comes to worse I'll bungi cord it to the p***enger side on the floor! [IMG]

Looks like you could pirate a box and lid from a 53 to 56 F-100 and mount the battery under the right hand floor boards. Not far from the starter so a short wiring thingie too. Just a thought!

  9. Mines in a neet little plastic batt box in the bed. My last one was bolted to the fire wall on the other side of the firewall from the glove box
