I know I'm being blasphemous by even talking about it, but I need to find out how much h***le it is to swap a 454/ TH400 into a 67 Caddy Coupe Deville. I mainly need to know about whether there are crossmember/ steering/ oilpan issues that will turn this swap into a nightmare.

I did some searches here and on the net and found nothing.

    Thanks, Mikey

Just curious here, but what's happening to the old 429? There are lots of us 429 folks on here that might be interested in case you go through with this.

there's a couple reasons you didn't find anything about it on here or the web too...

here-pre '64 traditional hot rods and customs message board.

web-anybody with one of those that wants more power drops a 472 or 500 in there, as though the 429 wasn't ballsy enough. hasn't been done that way because anyone with half a brain realizes it's a stupid idea...any other questions?

Thanks for the evaluation of my mental status. I thought I would post this here because there are adventurous people who post here . Sorry about the year being too new. At least I wasn't asking about a camaro. I see more and more of those flat sided barges being turned into cruisers.

It isn't a question of more power, the kid next door asked me to help him with his car. His car, his idea, his 454. If it is a major amount of work involved then I'm telling him to get the 429 done over.

Or maybe not. It could be a challenge, and a learning experience for the kid.
    BTW,
I'm not the only one with weird ideas

Would that be an 88 Oldsmobile you were wanting to put that garden appliance on?

    Thanks for reading this,

It's not that bad of an idea, really. Although a 500 is definately a better choice I'd simply look over the pan to motor mount relationship, grab a tape measure, and have at it. You may want to look at PU frame mounts for the BBC. Reality is the BBC's value might just get him a 472/500 with a trans and enough change to finish the details like exhaust and such.

"Thanks for the evaluation of my mental status."

Sounds like you fit right in. Most all here are of some brand of altered mental state. Good luck with the project. Kool car.
