Need some help selecting between 2 cams I have for my BBC.

Engine: 454 2 bolt, .030 overbore, decked, 820 oval ports, 2.19/1.88, approx 9.5:1 compression, Dart dual plane, Quick Fuel 750 pro vac carb, 2" headers.

    Current cam is

    Isky Z-66 solid .520 lift, 228*.050 dur, 268* adv dur, 108*lsa

Also have original GM ls6/l78 solid lifter 3904362

    .520 lift, 242* .050 dur, 316/302 adv dur, 114*lsa

Which one would be better for my combination?
    Thanks.

comp cams has a program you can download that will help you make this decision. It is very detailed and then it will give you a list of cams that are compatible (just compare it your two). I just tried it for the first time Saturday and I was impressed.

Build the engine and come back to tell us you've sold the Nova and are now putting it in a '32 3w that your neighbor sold you for $500 and you'll find a warmer welcome. In the meantime if you insist on the Nova there are better forums than one dedicated to "traditional rods and customs". Sorry, don't mean to rain on your parade but what your doing just doesn't fit here.

If I could find a 32 3w, I would do just that. I also have a pretty bitchin' 55 bel air 2 door sedan in primer, faded paint and bare metal which might fit in a little better here.

They all seem to have similar power bands ratings but the Isky should make more bottom end w/the tighter lobe separation and would be a good compliment to the dual plane, oval ports, carb and compression you've chosen. Especially if you are using it in a heavy car.
