Well, it fits pretty good! A little tight here and there but not too bad.

    Positive things:

-the exhaust manifolds dump in just the right spot and it looks as if I could use the same head pipes as the 352...crazy.

-it should fit under the hood, which was the goal.

-there is still room for a mechanical fan, which will save some coin.

    Negative things:

-The oil pan touches the x-member. I'm going to look at what is out there to solve this issue (any suggestions?).

-I don't know if the drivers side valve cover can be removed w/out loosening the brake booster. If that is the case I've got a problem.

    So....what do you guys think?

    Looks good.

Depending on where(and how much ) the oil pan is touching the crossmember, you might be able to "m***age" the oil pan with a hammer to gain enough clearance.

I'm going to be swapping a 460 into my 50 F1. Your engine compartment is quite a bit larger then mine.

Looks like a snug but neat fit in that old longroof!

If you can't modify the stock pan to work, you might want to look up L&L Products, they make swap pans, headers and mounts for 385/Lima series engines. (They specialize in truck swaps, but their products find uses in cars as well). Good, quality stuff, I've used them before and would again without a second thought.

Thanks for the heads up. I have a mount kit on order from crites as we speak. To be brutally honest every other part I have ever ordered from them has been broken, incorrectly bent on the brake, smashed, missing parts, or just plain did not fit. Charles is a nice guy, tries to be helpful but be skeptical asking him what fits what. Yes may actually end up a big NO in the reality of your garage. For instance, their "bolt-in" radiator kit does not allow one to close the hood when installation is complete (sits too high). After modifying the radiator support a bit it fit w/ room to spare however there is not room between the 385 series water pump and the radiator (maybe 1.5"). Yet somehow they sell a fan shroud for it. By the time I got the radiator where it needs to be the mount kit (30-40 bucks) is useless. Anyway, I thought I'd give them a whirl w/ the mounts and x-member. If that stuff fits we might give the headers a shot.

Oh yea....Crites if you are reading this nobody ever called my shop back re: '59 hood will not close w/ 26" radiator. Did anyone there actually, personally attemp to install one in a '59 model car?

You might shoot a PM to scooter. He had a 460 installed in his '59 Ranch Wagon a while back. He may have some insight that could help you.
