  1. Be gentle it's my first time, and I like it.

Finally got the nerve to do my first legal roof chop. Back in the early 70''s there, more then a few NHRA super stocker's that were not the way the came from OEM. SOOOOO I'm told lol.

A buddy and I were BS ing in the garage, last week, talking about me having to get rid, of a life time pile of stuff.
I have 2 ford PU trucks a 41 and 45, so he say's why don't you chop the 41 as it won't sell for much. Ya see the 41 has rotten door bottoms and front floor.

So here it is after a 4 inch chop, front and rear. Did not cut the roof, instead layed the a pillars back.
I think it turned out pretty damn good ! Layed the roof down till the 4 inch cut lined the pillars.
The chop is if i took out 4 in the back and 5 in the front. The red cab picture shows the stock a pillar angle

    How did I do ?

looks good to me... I never understand why some one would split the front of the cab from the back to chop one and cause so much more work... not to mention it looks much nicer with the A pillars leaned back!! Nice Job!

    Looks great............

  6. The second picture down on the left shows the new a pillar angle.
It is a lot more work to lay the pillars back, but then again ya don't have to mud the roof. Personal choice. This stuff is no harder then some of the prototypes I've done

  9. That's a hell of a jump from slightly masaged Super Stockers to wacking the roof of an old pickup. Were there adult beverages involved?

  10. No wobblie pop involved.

The thing we never got caught. Remember the rule book said you could not cut chop or remove.! BUT IT DID NOT SAY YOU COULD NOT MOVE IT.

Any body remember Marty Barrett ? head tech inspector early 70s. He new. As far as the rule book goes we were not cheating!

I think (and I could be wrong)that for bonneville legal chop you are not allowed to lean the posts back so you have to lengthen the roof when you chop it.I have a s.c.t.a rule book I'll look tonight.

I don't know anything about the rules, but I do know that if that is indeed someway close to a rule, there were/are a lot of car which have broken that rule.

****ed heads with Marty many times during teardown of our Stockers and Ssuper Stockers after winning cl*** or setting a record. All things being equal he was a really nice guy when out of his NHRA role. After having to deal with Bob Daniels I'll take Marty any day.

  20. Plans. Not sure.
I do have a complete set of good fenders and 41 hood all in great shape, and all the running gear.
I may Bag it, I have a line on a good frame, the original frame was rusted in half. May even fab a new frame.
You never know I may sell it!

Better then i did on my 40 ford, I cut the roof trying to mimic the honest charlie mobile, And screwed it up. Had boxed 31 rails to put it on. But then sold the whole thing for 300 bucks. Anyways,, nice job.
