You're welcome, earl. I may be new here, but I've been a member of http://fordsix.com/forum/ for a few years. Like some on this thread, I've been helped by others, and just want to pass the karma on. I hope that the instructions help, and if you want to order the linkage, any Offy dealer should be able to order it-they still make the manifold, and the linkage is another manufacturer that they contract to. The reason I'm moving here (HAMB) is that FordSix has a pretty low tolerance for any engines other than ford sixes, and as I'm stuffing a 351 w/AOD into the Ol' 55, I don't feel the love flowing... Thanks for the welcome, I feel that I've made the right choice.
What I neglected to tell you, Keith, is that I have a FENTON manifold Still, what you sent WILL help, and I still owe ya an adult beverage (at least) when our paths cross Thanks again, new guy
Oh well thank you for taking mental deficiancies to heart, I've always wondered why people take to me so kindly, the hair lip and the cross eyed gaze must make 'em all mushy inside....you allways think of the right things to say Tman....thanks for makin' my day. I'm gonna go practice tying my shoes now. Bye Bye!!
yeah dudes! we were all newbe's at one time. thanks to a "newbe" my trip to california this coming week is gonna be cool. planning on helping rhino1958 breath life into his 58' ford wagon by helping install a 351w/c6 and inviting any local hambers to join in, your all invited. interesting thing is this will be the first time getting together making us all newbe's. personally i really don't read many stupid questions just ignorant responses!
The only guy that I remember that truly deserved to get ripped up was the belly tank guy. The only thing that save my ass from getting lit was I lurked for about 6 months and then didn't post anything for about 6 months. I just read and read to get a feel for things around here. Just yesterday I replied to a FNG post about movies. Yup I did a "use the search" responce. But then I edited it to also say I wasn't trying to be a dick and that the search would give way more info than I could.
Milk crates around here are almost tradition, usually means the first drive around the compound with no brakes and a wire, hand operating the throttle. Metal is more tradtional.
I don't fit this mold (talentwise).. But I have seen more talent from lurkers and new guys who are bashful about it. Every once in a while they get brave and post their work. The fellow from the North Pole for example. Don't be bashful newguys... we love picking on you.
Growing up I had 2 older brothers and my nephews were around all the time. A couple swift kicks to the rump usually makes anyone wake up a lil....Also coming from a military dad you learn by doing and making mistakes rather then by annoying the man with the wrenches....
When I first got on here last year, I kinda fell and stepped on my dick. No big deal, I have thick skin. A little razzing is fun now and then, I just never understood what really bad attitudes had to do with cars anyway.
There's a few guys on here I sure wouldn't stop to pee on if they were on fire... but some guys never stop being dicks, it's just a way of life to be ignorant. The new guy thing works both ways, I had a no-poster want an A frame I have stashed, tell me he'd take it, come look at it and tell me he was hoping for something nicer. The frame was under a running, driving car three years ago... how much nicer does it have to be, already blasted and painted up shiny? I wouldn't give a crap, but I made a special 150 mile round trip out to meet the clown when I could just as easily have sent pictures - and even taken new ones the next time I was up there for something else. Which, next time I just get the money up front at least for the gas back and forth is all. You can't assume every new guy is bad from that, the guy could just as easily have had 5,000 posts and still did that. I'm sure sooner or later when I need an answer on something, like IDing these three Mopar rack and pinions I picked up, someone will have an answer for me. I never have figured out why they call 'em milk crates, by the way, all mine are full of car parts.. probably should call 'em carburetor crates. I've seen them with model train stuff in them, books, magazines... used as seats. step-stools, as a bike seat for an illegal alien (ET), even a soap box now... but never with milk in them.
That's all right---when was the last time you opened a glove compartment and actually saw gloves in it?
I truly feel as though no dumb question or comment should go unrazzed in some fashion. To quote a a famouse movie line, "Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here today." Rat Rod, Rat Rod, Rat rod, blah blah blah damn Rat Rods... Blah blah People take that crap just a little too seriously.
Friendly Nice Guy...??? Funny New Guy...??? unFamiliar Nerdy Gerk...??? Whatever you want it to be... R-
How long you've been around and how many posts you have has NO relation to your intelegence. (but it does make for more fun,HA HA!)
