I Just found a gear reduction motor 1/2 hp, 30 rpm, reversable, I'm going to mount it on a Woodward Fab bead roller and have trying to determin what a good final drive RPM would be? I searched all the threads and it looks like its been done quite a few times, but couldn't find where anyone
mentioned a good final drive ratio. The motor is A/C 110v so not to easy to make it a variable speed. Thanks for any info, JJ

I have a Dayton gear motor for mine. 1787-1 ratio.
I am copying a few other guys who have used this motor and they work awesomly well. With 2.8 RPM they are very easy to control and intricate work is easier.

If you get it running too slow I find that I tend to wander on long straight lines. For me the best of all worlds would be a foot pedal speed control that would go from about 3 rpm to 15 rpm - I haven't found that solution yet.

Thanks for the replys. I have it figured to use a chevy flexplate for a the driven gear, just trying to work out what size gear to get for the motor. The sizes that are avaible would give
either 7.7 rpm or 10.5. The dies are 2" dia. at 10 rpm would net about 60" of feed a minute,
thinking that would be a good starting point. It will be set up with a disconect so you can use manual feed as well if you need to go slower. I'll try to post some pics when i get it all done.
