You might check the archives for"Two Guys Garage" about 3-4 months ago they covered a complete install around that time.
I have installed about a half dozen sets of the latches in various cars, all pre-war cars and not yet my '53. In all cases it required fabrication to the door pillar and door with opening mechanics to overcome. You can either place the pin in the door or pillar depending on how you want to the 'claw' to open with electrics or mechanics. I have not found a reason to change the '53 yet from stock. There are many web sites that show various installations with the 'claw' if you have the time to research for them. Good luck.
Hey, Geno! For those of us who have much greater skills with a torch than with a computer, would you be willing to share a couple of the websites which show well-done installations. I know how to search...but just barely. Thanks in advance. Eric
Ok guys, I did my homework a bit early so you can get started installing those bear claws this weekend! What I did to get installation guides is simply type in "Bear claw door latch installation" on google. Several sites showed up! Click on the ones you want. Many magazine articles. I was going to list the sites but I want to eat and relax tonight rather than type for the next few hours! Geno
I've bought a bunch of these bear claws from several vendors and they all seem to be the same quality. Maybe one outfit builds them all. I haven't had a problem with any of them.
