I'll bet those holes in the front frame added at least 10 MPH to the top end.

  12. This is close to me and the guy that's selling the car is well known in the Upstate of South Carolina.

Did they angle-step the front frame rails to keep it from being too nose-high? If so, why the enormous step-down mount for the front spring? Was the drag link and left wishbone purposely bent like that and run like that, or is that damage? Also, they drilled out the trunk lid and then filled each hole back in?! Is the I-beam slotted the whole width?

There's so much to unpack here.

I saw one the other day on the street, sort of a butternut yellow with buick 5 spokes. Looked nice, sounded a bit ratty like the glass packs where toasted. Pretty nice cars inside and nail head power...I'd drive it.

Dang. Let's not use a straight edge to lay out those holes.

Why is sanding off half the paint, then giving up always job number one?

  25. Anthony, if you are referring to that '63 unibody it has the straightest body I have ever seen on this type of truck. HRP

It's likely there are many other details that lead to project lag, some very unfortunate I'd imagine. I certainly could see the negativity increasing though if it was a youngun at home with his first car as the patchwork look of these cars is many times not very appealing to ma and pa.

  27. That truck is nice
