It’s December 13 and after a bit of snow last week, we had the good fortune to have a large warm rainfall wash away the salt. Could not resist a nice long ride on the two lanes. Hope you’re day went well!
Looking good AVater. Where is that covered bridge located? It appears to be in excellent condition. I checked out a few around Allentown, Pa when I was there in 2017. They're something we don't have or need here in Australia.
I believe that is Comstock Bridge, over the Salmon River, in East Hampton, Connecticut. These are preserved landmarks, and well cared for.
Burrr-fect day I'll bet...just toss on the Ole Ugly Christmas Sweater and let the day begin...rare moments are good for the heart... Do you have a heater in the Coupe @AVater?
Actually temp got into the 50’s. I do have a heater that is plumbed in but for whatever reason, I have never opened the valve to have water flow through it so the answer is yes but functionally no. Good eyes there. Nailed it! Love driving down Rte 16 either direction with the hills and turns. Often little traffic. The bridge pretty much is a way for people on foot to and from trout fishing spots.
Nice day and photo from your home front... Here is what we are going through right now and will be headed your way within days or sooner if it gathers speed after the Rockies. Hello, In reading your posts, that is so nice to have good weather. We take it for granted that weather is something everyone has in different amounts all over the USA. (and the world) In the Northern Hemisphere, we are in the Southern portion of the weather pattern. The people North of us get more severe weather most of the time. Of course, So Cal is a desert climate and with what water we have, it is livable. But in the satellite photo above, three days ago, we had an all day rain and is now approaching the Midwest. But, the big one behind is a killer today for us on the Southern coast. It is the aftermath of the big system moving Eastward toward the Rockies. Since we are on the tail end of the giant comma shaped weather front, we are now getting the super strong 25 mph winds playing their own version of patio furniture chess. Those patio guys are getting a work out in the wind patterns. The normal pattern is for this system that hit the PNW, very strong, is moving fast and should be in the Midwest soon. Snow in the upper regions and strong winds. We only see these during the Christmas holiday season. One year, our outdoor ornaments were like ping pong balls and when we were taking a walk in the neighborhood after the front moved East, we found several of our round ornaments sitting on our neighbor’s yards. No snow, so far, but winds and heavy fog/mist to make seeing our neighbors’ houses difficult. It is the biggest storm we have had this winter. But, it is on the tail end and will be gone by tonight. Jnaki Now, I am hearing some large banging sounds, so I will have to get out my waterproof full length jacket and go investigate. The last time we experienced these side ways winds and rain, we were driving on Highway 70 heading toward Denver and it was actually worse. Our poor Bush Cherry Trees had Red balls on a field of Green… just in time for the holidays. Now, they look like the Bush Cherry Tree Birds ate all of the Red berries and left some sparse Green trees. Good luck for now and as we all used to hear… “time to batten down the hatches..”
I grew up not far from there. I used to pick apples at the orchard up the road/hill from there. It's long gone now. Used to dive off the old buried steel train viaduct back in high school near there too.
Actually not much has changed in that area! I seem to remember they resided the bridge a few years back. Thank you! Can't get out today but hope to take the pickup out tomorrow. Agree the salt part weighed big on my mind. Also - kind of cool for a roadster ride! As noted above, much the same. Nice area for a ride. There have also been improvements with a nice farm making cheese and a good brewery close by on Cato Corner Rd. Stay safe and hope you don't experience damage there!
